Of internet browsing history and auto saved passwords
The sheep boyfriend just bought a “new” asus eee pc netbook (with 3g) to play with. I shall henceforth nickname the laptop “Hyde”.
Anyway, the guy/girl (couple actually, the post was made by an obviously female nick, but we were greeted by a guy) whom he bought from claimed Hyde was new, that he just opened/tested it to check if it worked etc — BULLSHIT.
Apparently we browsed through the history on Hyde, and it was at least used for 3 weeks!!!
Then it got interesting as we scrolled through the previous user’s internet browsing history:
- Peggy Chang
- Rice Bunny
- Ebay
- HWZ (where we found the deal from)
and….
SEXTUBE.COM.
Gee. If you are smart enough to use dropbox (also as seen on browsing history), then be smart enough to clear your browsing history and everything else before selling it to others lah!!
Do remove all traces of yourself (esp if there’s weird stuff in it) before selling any second hand equip to anyone. (I would say the same before sending your phone/laptop to the service center!) That would include phones, cameras, and obviously, netbooks.
Furthermore, the seller made a stupid move and autosaved quite a few passwords in Hyde. What if i’m someone with malicious intent?
(It’s called Hyde as his previous black laptop had the words “Gackt” stuck on the cover — and Hyde is white : 3 )
The bf claims to be very tired but apparently is still tinkering with Hyde at this moment. Tsk!
LOL the guy got sexposed :p
