Nail Happy!

Met up with lovely Melva from Nail Vibe for lunch, and she passed me the polishes i’ve ordered from her.
L-R:
China Glaze Ruby Pumps, OPI Midnight Ride, CG Fairy Dust, CG C-c-courage, OPI Otherwise Engaged, Seche Quick Dry Base Coat, OPI Pink in hearts II. Got the Avoplex cuticle oil too and passed it to Mum.
(She let me try out Ruby Pumps, and it’s uber chio and sparkly a red… unfortunately i’m not a fan of bright reds. This bottle’s for Pris.)
Here’s a fast swatch of my orders:
Fairy Dust, Fairy Dust over Otherwise Engaged, C-c-courage.

Fairy dust is one of the most gorgeous colors i’ve ever seen. As a topcoat. No huge shiny glitters/flakes, but attention grabbing enough. I couldn’t stop admiring my nails after I applied it once. I love using it over shades I’ve grown tired of. Reflects green, blue, red… as per pic above! Well i think the BB’s image quality isn’t as good as the LX3 but it sure captured it well here.

C-c-c-ourage looks absolutely stunning. It was a rich shade of purple which wasn’t too light for my liking, and full of shimmer! Love! Only thing is that when it dries it seems to feel a little semi matte to me. Neverthemind though, just apply top coat, and all’s shiny and dandy.
Seche’s base coat works really fast.
I have Otherwise Engaged on my nails now, and they look very sweet. And unique. As Scrangie describes it, there’s a “blue flash” in it and it shows when you tilt your fingernails in different angles. Very lovely shade. Sheer, but 2 coats will give you better coverage. If you’re going french with this, 3 coats will do the trick nicely! : D

Hmm. Strange. I experienced curt service bordering on rude, and also delayed shipping without any proper follow-up. I also read negative reviews of Nail Vibe on Cozycot, so I know I’m not alone.
Hey dear, I was a happy customer who became a friend of hers. To be honest, maybe I do get better service, but I have several friends who also got rather good service from her… My Mail came once repackaged by singpost, but no issue there as I had quite large items.
If you still want to order from her, I can drop her a note!
sometimes she replies on her phone and it can be quite a pain to manage n reply that many emails at one shot!
Oh… yup, I was quite puzzled because there were some good reviews on the Nail Vibe website but then I read the negative comments on Cozycot, so I was wondering what happened.
Don’t know if it’s Melva who attended to my emails, but it was quite unpleasant to have my in-stock items arrive three weeks after making payment without an explanation… and the postmarked date on the package was much later than the date I was told the package was sent out, so I didn’t get a good feeling about that. I was also really friendly in my emails so I don’t know why the replies were like that… oh well.
Thanks for letting me know your experience with Nail Vibe! I don’t know if I’ll order from them again since I can get the products cheaper and more quickly from the States…
I’m not sure what happened to your package, but I truly hope that it was an error in mail, and that she probably sent out a second package without clarifying… Usually I get my mail on time : D
Well, should you ever decide to order from her again, do let me know! : D ~ I’ll see if I can help!
Also, I should probably let you know that I really enjoy looking at your nail art creations! Wish I had the moolah to take up a course too – I bought the acrylic nail art set from art friends myself, and one set for an xmas exchange ahhahaa. : p
Ok
Actually, I’ve only gone for one lesson (and it isn’t for nail art but for basic mani pedi), and everything was done without any proper training, so you can definitely do it without signing up for a course. I guess it helped that I go for mani/pedi so frequently and almost always get art done, so I always learn tips and tricks from my manicurists, but looking at youtube video tutorials or surfing nail art blogs really help too!
You are referring to the acrylic paint?
They are really easy to use and you can just start off with a dotting tool for basic dots, but I use it for a lot of stuff, like flowers and hearts and eyes… as for painting with a proper brush, try to get them from eBay. A lot cheaper!
Psst! Are you free this Sat or Sun? I can demonstrate the sponge method for gradation on you at my flea markets if you can come by earlier. You can also check out some of the really cheap nail art supplies I’m clearing that will come in handy if you want to experiment more with nail art.
Heh I know!! That’s why its so inspirational! XD I can only imagine that you’ll be even more awesome with the course completion!
Yes acrylic paint! I actually got some dotting tools from art friends too, but I’m not sure if i got the right one man – they don’t really seem to pick up paint that well but from what I see on the web, it all looks the same.
Thank you for the invite! I would love to pop by, but I have stuff going on D : Bummer. Maybe the next few fleas? : D
