VDL (Violet Dream Luminous) Cosmetics was founded in 2012 by The Color Lab of LG Household and Health Care, and they work with reowned make up artists like Wendy Rowe and iconic brands to create trendy styles.

They have several lines of products, but to summarize it for you, they carry skincare, base make up, point make up (colors) and fragrance & body products.

VDL’s flagship store opened over the weekend, and they’re located in Suntec City, #02-338/339.

From now till July 12th, quote “Evonnz” to get a free Festival Love Mark lipstick worth $21 with a $40 min purchase (in a single receipt)!

We were given some items for review and to try out (from left to right):

  • VDL Ready Action Pen Liner in 02 Sponge Action
  • VDL Festival Mineral Eyes (Love Mark) in 301 Club E
  • VDL Festival Mineral Blusher (Love Mark) in 602 Back Hug
  • VDL Festival Lip Stick (Love Mark) in 502 Cruz
  • VDL Tint Bar Triple Shot in 101 Triple Pink
  • VDL Eye Bomb Mascara

VDL Ready Action Pen Liner in 02 Sponge Action

“Ready, Action! is a line which features portable mini sized items for quick, easy and functional on-the-go makeup. “

The brush is firm, which allows you to have great control over where you want your eyeliner to go but while the formula is strongly budge proof once dried, it is not waterproof. I'm not sure how it will work on oily eyelids yet.

VDL Festival Mineral Eyes (Love Mark) in 301 Club E

One thing I like about VDL is their packaging. You may find this at first similar to MAC’s, but really, at least it’s not gonna be a hassle to identify your colors and the difference between their packaging and MAC’s would be that the flat top for VDL’s cases – this allows it to be stacked easier than MAC ones!

Also the box has helpful information in both English and Korean – expiry dates clearly stated, ingredients on the side as well as application tips in English!

The colors definitely did not disappoint – the pay off was good, colors were intense and sparkly and I could say almost duochrome!

VDL Festival Mineral Blusher (Love Mark) in 602 Back Hug

The blush comes with a brush and an instructional slip. The brush has indentations so that you have a better grip on it. It's synthetic and firm. Unfortunately though, there's no place in the casing for you to store it.

The festival mineral blusher in 602 Back Hug is a pretty peachy color – this swatch was done with the brush to emulate how it’ll look like on your cheeks! I layered the intensity on, of course. I really like the highlighter and the peachy shade.

VDL Festival Lip Stick (Love Mark) in 502 Cruz

The magnetic cover was a nice touch to the lip stick packing which is already lovely to begin with - the magnetic clasp ensures that the cap stays on when it's in your bag - unless of course you have other items in your bag with a strong magnetic field (...)

Lipstick's beautifully engraved with a wax seal print! So pretty!

502 Cruz is an intense red which I didn’t find really matte – but it isn’t drying, and this shade of red is a nice one – it’s blue toned (or neutral, I think I’m going blind) which doesn’t make my teeth appear yellowish and that’s a good thing. Would have preferred a darker shade though!

VDL Tint Bar Triple Shot in 101 Triple Pink

“This is VDL’s Lip Stain line – a variety of lip tint and stains that differ in colors and viscosity, inspired by vacation experience, products are specially designed to deliver refreshing fruity sentiments through colors, scent and packaging.”

This tint bar works more like a balm, imparting a sheer color and subtle shine on your lips once applied. I haven’t tried it for myself, but they remind me of candy canes with the tri-tone shades! The packaging is a little like Model’s Own, but very holiday-ish and summery. I think it brings a lot of people joy to just look at the pink colors in the tube, hahaha.

VDL Eye Bomb Mascara

I've yet to try this huge-ass mascara, but it's not waterproof from what I know. It's budge-proof however, and rinses off with warm water.

To introduce the products to us, VDL arranged a blogger’s party for us at Antoinette @ Palais Renaissance, which in my humble opinion had the nicest settings of all 3 Antoinette outlets – it’s like a little garden and I love Antoinette’s food, so this was a must go for me! Plus I had fabulous + talented  company – Yina, Tricia, Juli & Candice! Events are so much more fun with great company ; )

The make up artist was one of the other reasons I’d wanted to attend – the very talented and friendly Clarence Lee was doing a make up demo!

evonnz-vdl-1

His demo model, to my delight, was none other than ANTM (Asia’s Next Top Model) contestant Sofia Wakabayashi – whose real name is Miki Tsugi! She stood out amongst the other models because of her height and her exotic features, so I was really glad to be able to see her in person! Her skin is flawless, plus somehow she just kept looking at my camera (hehehe) so I got some nice shots.

More pictures to satiate your appetite and a glimpse into what you can find in their Suntec Store…

Base make up collection! I like that their eyebrow palette seems more grey-toned. And I’m also super keen to try out their cream concealers (which comes in a pot, complete with a brush!)

From what I know, the prices are quite alright at $6 for a bottle of polish and the concealer with a brush is around $48? The brush is really unique and worth checking out, sorry I don’t have pictures! : (

Eye bomb & Water bomb mascaras. They’re really huge!

vdl-cosmetics-singapore-launch-13

Their pretty lippies! More swatches below on Juli, Tricia & Candice’s hands.

vdl-swatches

Don’t you think the pink shade in the bottom right corner’s just so delicious looking!? I’m really tempted to head down to Suntec City just to check out for myself!

vdl-cosmetics-singapore-launch-14

Polishes, as mentioned earlier, are priced around $6 – and in these cut little lippy bottles!

vdl-cosmetics-singapore-launch-15

Eyeshadows in pots, which resemble MAC ones so much. Great pigmentation and the gold shade is amazing.

vdl-cosmetics-singapore-launch-16

Mineral shadow duos – They’re both worth taking a second or third look at! Better yet, just grab them and head straight to check out.

vdl-cosmetics-singapore-launch-17

I could see Candice zooming in on the purple gloss almost immediately, hahaha. And it is insanely gorgeous and an absolute glitter bomb.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this short coverage of VDL Cosmetics! Always happy to see more brands arriving in Singapore!

Once again, VDL Cosmetics are available at Suntec City, #02-338/339. Tweet them, Facebook them or Instagram them if you have more enquiries or just want to stay updated and tempted!
