Holiday 2014: Urban Decay Vice3 | Black Magic | Shadow Box | Naked Basics 2 | Naked Illuminated

By | beauty, EOTD, eyeliner, Eyes, Eyeshadow, Face, Fashion, Make Up, OOTD | No Comments

I didn’t mean to be so late with the Holiday Collection, but right after my trip I went for eye surgery and I hadn’t expected such a long down time – I can work, but at a much slower speed as my vision is still rather blurry (it’s normal!) and it sort of differs day to day. Couple that with jet lag of sorts that was exacerbated by the amount of sleep I had to clock during my surgery / when I couldn’t see well (what is there to do but sleep? haha) and there you go – I’m extremely late!

But better late than never, they say!

Yesterday saw me going for the first event post ReLEx SMILE vision correction surgery – for Urban Decay’s Holiday 2014 showcase at Sephora ION’s launchpad – their showcase will be there for the next 3 weeks, so you still have time to grab the limited edition Vice3 palette (2000 pieces only in Singapore) – you will be entitled to a travel gift set with min $100 purchase and also some freebies at the counter (while stocks last!). And don’t forget your 10% loyalty discount with your Sephora Black Card!

The event kicked off with a makeup demo by UD Singapore Makeup Artist, Maz, on how to quickly achieve alluring eyes with Urban Decay’s Holiday 2014 items – using Tornado from the Black Magic 24/7 Eyeliner set, she first drew a thick eyeliner on Melissa’s face, and then smudged it out with the very useful brush from Naked Basics 2 which had a short bristled end, perfect for smudging! She then patted Heroine over the dark purple base created with the eyeliner and finished it off by using Naked Illuminated powder on the inner corner of Melissa’s eyes!

I’ve always loved Maz’s work, and she definitely gave me some ideas on how to use the products from the collection!

After the make up demo, Maz revealed the upcoming lipstick treasure chest from Urban Decay – Full Frontal Lipstick Stash, which will be launching on 12th Nov at $60 SGD!

The limited edition Full Frontal Lipstick Stash set contains 6 Revolution Lip colors (3 totally brand new) and a full-sized 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Ozone, which is a clear lip liner that helps to set lipstick as well as prevent bleeding / feathering! The lipstick colors featured in the set are: Ladyflower, Gash, Crush, Liar, F-Bomb & Illicit.

One of the highlights of the event was watching an online acquaintance turned friend, Dem, doing his graffiti magic on an Urban Decay canvas right in front of me – I thought it couldn’t be more befitting because of UD’s image – plus, I’m all for supporting local art talents!

The 1.8 x 1.8m tall Canvas was painted entirely by him in his studio, and he finished it off at the event with some touch ups and the marking of the UD symbol right in the middle of it. It was really nice to meet his pretty and equally creative (her origami skills are like level 100) fiancée, Rae! Follow Adam and his wonderful works on instagram at @dem0365!

Okay let’s go back to Urban Decay’s Holiday 2014 collection and swatches!

Urban Decay Holiday 2014 Lineup:

  • VICE3 Palette, $88 SGD
  • Shadow Box, $52 SGD
  • Naked Basics 2, $45 SGD
  • Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder for Body & Face, $43 SGD
  • Black Magic 24/7 Pencil Eyeliner Set, $60 SGD

Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette

The Urban Decay Vice3 is the third Vice Palette (I feel silly typing this already) which is released every year. I remember fondly the queue for the first one… and whenever there’s a queue for Urban Decay things it’s always good and comes with loads of goodies as an appreciation to the fans (for example, for Naked3’s launch the first 3 in the queue got a Naked Vault each!)

This year’s palette is sleeker, thinner, and comes with a complimentary pouch which can fit an iPad mini!

Sorry about the dings in the eyeshadows hahaha I’ve swatched them before I realized that my shots taken before swatching didn’t quite cut it. I love, love love this palette! I think it’s got a great mixture of everything in it – from mattes, to metallics, cool colors, warm colors and it’s basically a palette which I will REALLY bring overseas with me. Just this one palette!

I don’t know how UD does it, but every Vice palette contain never-seen-before shades, and these are excellent! Great color payoff and as usual, good formulation and texture for this palette. I even told my friend what a waste it was that she didn’t want to get it because she had the other palettes. I’m telling you, Felicia – you’re missing out! Hahaha.

(swatches are done from bottom up, by columns)

Urban Decay Shadow Box

The Urban Decay Shadow box contains 12 popular colors from UD’s collection and I guess it does pale out if you’re already getting Vice3, but this palette’s selection is really pretty goo and the casing as well! At $52, it’s a great set if you’re new to Urban Decay shadows – or as a gift for the girlfriend who doesn’t own anything from Urban Decay yet!

Urban Decay Naked Basics 2

The Naked Basics 2 palette comes after the great success of Naked Basics 1, which was well loved (very well loved by me actually, I keep reaching for it). This time, we see a much more subdued, and less contrasting selection in the palette – still super easy to use for newbies and people who are just starting out with eyeshadows! And the brush that comes with it is really useful cos of the short bristled end! I love using that to smudge out or apply colors more precisely nearer to my lash line. And it’s just $45 SGD, too.

Urban Decay Naked Illuminated

This Illuminating face and body powder’s super pretty and shiny – a quick dust gives you the glow you need for this holiday season. it comes with a brush at the bottom compartment of the box which i nearly forgot about *sheepish look*. That’s really useful though, because this baby is really full of glitter and you’d want a separate brush for this instead of using your blush brush!

It is almost too shimmery for the cheeks, but on the collarbones and shoulders it is fantastic! It serves well as a quick sweep across your lids too, or as Maz demonstrated at the event, used with a wet brush at the inner corner of your eyes. Aura is a beautiful shade, and worth looking into! OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Urban Decay Black Magic 24/7 Eyeliner Set

My other favorite from UD’s holiday collection – Black Magic set contains 4 24/7 Double-ended eye pencils, which means you get 8 colors for just $60! I repeat, 8 eyeliner colors for just $60 SGD. One eyeliner pencil would cost you $32 SGD alone, so that’s like… $16 * 8 = $128 value in this set!

Each eyeliner pencil has 1 black shade and 1 colorful shade (I wouldn’t consider brown and grey very colorful but at least it’s not black-black), and Black Market and Tornado are also exclusive to this set! This means… you could get this set and keep that for yourself and gift the rest away, haha – I KNOW I’M KEEPING IT!

EOTD with Urban Decay’s Holiday Products

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt was only natural for me to don a colorful dress and match it with a colorful eye look using Urban Decay’s colors from the Vice3 palette, of course!

In this look:

  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Black Velvet as base eyeliner and LSD & Tornado applied over it.
  • Shadows used: Bondage, Alchemy, Revolver

I took this photo a few good hours after the event so it’s smudged a bit as I had to push my lids quite often to drip eye drops. So sorry about the smudging!

Paired off with a dress I picked out from Love, Bonito specially for this event – the Zalita printed dress!

I initially wanted to alter this dress shorter but I’m glad I didn’t, because I think the length keeps it really elegant! The material is comfy and the prints are beautiful (and designed in-house at Love, Bonito so you wouldn’t find the print used anywhere else). In case anyone’s interested, I wear Size S for this.

Thanks, Love, Bonito team for this! <3

evonnz-fotd-2 Thank you for the lovely cookies, Sephora! My FOTD (or rather, face of the night!) was created using products from:

  • Base: Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation
  • Concealers: Lancome Le Correcteur Pro, Make Up For Ever Full Cover, Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer
  • Eyeshadow: Laneige Pure Radiant Shadow in No. 7 Miss Twinkle, M.A.C Maleficent Eyeshadow Palette & Lancome Ombre Hypnose in Erika F (bottom lashline)
  • Eyeliner: Dollywink Pencil Eyeliner
  • Mascara: Lancome Grandiose
  • Eyebrows: Shu Uemura Hard Formula Pencil & Heavy Rotation Eyebrow Mascara
  • Blush: M.A.C Sweet Williams (Sharon Osbourne collection)
  • Contour: Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Powder in Fawn
  • Face Powder: Guerlain Meteorites
  • Lips: Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Lip & Cheek Balm

evonnz-fotd-1 Dug into my stash and rediscovered Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation which I fell in love with again. It went on surprisingly well (now that I have peely skin) and yes, coverage was indeed good! I still had to conceal my spots but color correction was minimal. I don’t recommend this for oily skins though, it tends to oil up quite badly by the 3rd – 4th hour. Here’s a process of my bare face > all made up. fotd-bno

  1. My face without any make up on – scary huh, all the spots and how red it is >_<
  2. With Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation on! I’m using shade Fair Sand here. It does seem lighter than my shoulders but I am a little more tanned on my arms anyway – and it’s okay if it’s a little too light, cos I can always contour!
  3. After Concealing
  4. After Contouring + blush + eyeshadow + eyebrows!
FOTD 11 SEPT 2014!

Mascara, lip balm… Andddd done! FOTD 11 SEPT 2014!

evonnz-eotd-tarte-foundation-laneige-eyeshadow-mac-blush-23 Love how crazy sparkly the shadows from the Laneige Pure Radiant Shadow palette in No. 7 Miss Twinkle are – my camera couldn’t capture them all and does them no justice! I certainly made the right choice by choosing this – I remember I was kindda mulling over which palette to pick, heh. This is a palette from their Spring 2014 collection. laneige-pure-radiant-shadow-no-7-miss-twinkle-1 Some swatches on arm which shows the twinkle in the shadows clearer. I think I just died and went to sparkle heaven. laneige-pure-radiant-shadow-no-7-miss-twinkle-2 laneige-pure-radiant-shadow-no-7-miss-twinkle-3 I first contoured my eye with the M.A.C Cosmetics Maleficent palette (which has the most amazing matte neutral browns ever!), then I patted the sparkly Laneige shadows over my eye with my fingers. Pat and dab, not swipe or rub them on. You can use a bit of primer if you want them to adhere better (to minimize irritation from specks getting into your eyes). I used pink/yellow sparkle in the middle of my lid, and the olive sparkly shade at the outer corner. If you feel that you over did the sparkle, tone it down with a brown shadow. evonnz-eotd-tarte-foundation-laneige-eyeshadow-mac-blush-7 A friend didn’t really like the Lancome Grandiose mascara because it’s too wet, but I’ve been using this for a few weeks now and I quite love it! It gives my lashes volume AND a bit of length – defined lashes was what I needed and it’s not waterproof, but works well in my favor since I am quite lazy to remove WP mascara sometimes. It doesn’t smudge on me. evonnz-eotd-tarte-foundation-laneige-eyeshadow-mac-blush-9 evonnz-eotd-tarte-foundation-laneige-eyeshadow-mac-blush-10 evonnz-eotd-tarte-foundation-laneige-eyeshadow-mac-blush-13 I do my brows with the Shu Uemura Hard Pencil in a grey shade which isn’t warm since I have blonde hair now, but it’s still too dark for me – so i colored it with a brow mascara from Heavy Rotation. Japanese brow mascaras are the best because… blonde is a popular hair color there! Hahaha. evonnz-eotd-tarte-foundation-laneige-eyeshadow-mac-blush-15 evonnz-eotd-tarte-foundation-laneige-eyeshadow-mac-blush-19 I haven’t done a beauty post in a while and I miss it so much. Hope my skin recovers faster so that I can come back to doing this more often! The photos you see here are not in any way photoshopped (no blemish correction, no liquifying), just color corrected – all I can say is.. I LOVE BOTOX & MY SKIN DOCTOR. Thank you, Dr Ivan Tan from Nu Reflections!

Etude House Magic Any Cushion Review, Swatches, Pictures

By | Base, beauty, EOTD, Eyes, Eyeshadow, FOTD, Make Up | 13 Comments

Remember my trip to Korea in end March? Yina and I were send there on a press trip by Etude House for a short tour, but also mainly for the launch of these new babies on Etude House’s shelves! Presenting to you…

Etude House’s Magic Any Cushion!

Etude House’s Magic Any Cushion is meant to be used below your foundation / bb as a color corrector / highlighter / base, and comes in 3 colors – Magic Mint, Magic Pink & Magic Peach!

As far as color theory goes, green corrects redness (esp Rosacea), Pink gives you radiance and counters sallow skin, and peach is meant to correct dull, ashy skin.

Colors swatched on skin:

When blended out! All 3 Magic Any Cushons have fine shimmer in them – which is subtle and renders a soft glow (you can see a hint of it in the picture below) on your face.

Note: Doing swatches like the above picture will not help you make a decision, haha. You need to try it on your skin. I initially thought that I would need green to counter redness but I can’t use it all over my face – Instead I have to use a combination, and I’ll show you how later!

But first let’s talk about the cushion’s physical properties.

Etude House is under Amore Pacific group (Laneige, Sulwhasoo, Hera, IOPE), which means that… all the refills are interchangable (aka Hera’s refill can fit into Laneige’s, etc)! Of course that’s if you don’t have more than one cushion of course, because you’ll just be one very confused person – also, their sponges all fit each other’s cases so what I did was to get Etude’s ones and use for my other compacts : p They say it has anti-bacterial properties, but I’d very much prefer to change it every 2 months or so.

Usage wise, it’s liek all other cushions. Press into the sponge compact, and you’ll see product on the sponge – for Magic Any Cushions, their sponges are pink instead of blue! Super cute.

Note: I have dull, ashy skin, redness around the nose and chin, and I often look tired without make up.

For my skin, I’m unable to use just one shade across to settle all problems because I only have specific areas of redness – but here’s some half face swatches for comparison’s sake! Note that all 3 cushions do not offer concealing properties – so unless you have very good skin, you’ll need something to conceal your blemishes!

Magic Any Cushion in Magic Mint

This one gives me a white cast on my face, unfortunately. It may not seem obvious here, but it makes my dull skin look even ashier somehow. I only use it on my nose area and chin.

Magic Any Cushion in Magic Peach

I love this one! The lighting is a little pink here, but it doesn’t go on pink at all – it blends into my skin perfectly and takes the dullness off my face! If I didn’t have serious red spots to cover, I wold totally just use this alone.

Magic Any Cushion in Magic Pink

It doesn’t do a bad job at countering sallow skin, but it’s not suitable for yellow skin or skin that suffers from rosacea- the redness around my nose and chin becomes even more significant – and on the overall it gives my face a pinkish tint. It’s not obvious in pictures but in real life…. I’m like a pink dolphin. That’s why I usually avoid pink based foundations.

You can use the Magic Any Cushions with any other brand’s make up products or even with a non cushion foundation, but I think it goes best with a cushion foundation/bb or at least apply the foundation layer with a patting motion because you wouldn’t want to disturb the layer of color correction – it’s lightweight but you should also avoid rubbing it away by applying foundation with fingers or with a brush!

The Precious Any Cushion comes in 3 colors – N02 Light Beige, W13 Natural Beige & W24 Honey Beige. (I guess N stands for Neutral and W stands for Warm). It costs $32 each (no refill) and refills are at $16 each.

I’m in-between Natural Beige & Honey Beige, but bearing in mind that the Magic Any Cushion, when used underneath, will give you radiance, I went for Honey Beige instead so that I don’t end up looking too white!

And the result?

I love it!

(Swear to god I didn’t photoshop my face slimmer – this is my good angle hahaha I feel like a fraud when I only show my side profile.)

It worked out to be very much the perfect finish and shade for me. I’m always amazed when people tell me I’m fair because I don’t feel fair at all – and in here I seem to have the perfect bronze look without looking overly baked!

Here’s how I used the Magic Any Cushion along with the Precious Mineral Any Cushion. It’s just my way of using it – if you don’t have problems like I do, then you don’t really need to use so many different cushions!

Here’s what I do!

A short step by step:

1. Use Magic Mint on red areas of your face

2. Use Magic Peach all over to counter sallowness

Optional 2b. if you have nice, clear skin without any dullness, you can skip step 3! But if you have red, angry spots – use concealer before you go on to step 3.

3. Apply Precious Mineral Magic Any Cushion all over

3. Use Magic Pink on areas you wish to highlight!

Etude House’s Magic Any Cushions are $29 SGD each (doesn’t come with refill) and refills are $14 SGD each!

Randomly, I love this set up and table shot! *__* <3 (I love Ayataka Green Tea & the candle which smells like ION too!!!)

Picked up these little cheat (tip) sheets from Etude House in Korea – you can stick them all like post its into a folder, which I did for momento sake – along with an instant photo we took while in Korea! Beautiful memories ; )

To finish up the look, I decided to whip out the Limited Edition Play Color Eyes palette sent to me a while back – I used this palette when I was in Korea too and I fell in love with the wine shade! Unfortunately it is all sold out at the moment :( , but since I’ve used it I’ll show you the colors anyway!

Colors, L-R: Clutch Brow, Coco Brownie, Pop Champagne, French Kiss, Misty Rose, Diva, Glam Forest, Midnight Star, Sparkling Wine and Leopard Brown

Colors, L-R: Clutch Brow, Coco Brownie, Pop Champagne, French Kiss, Misty Rose, Diva, Glam Forest, Midnight Star, Sparkling Wine and Leopard Brown

Colors used: Clutch Brow, Pop Champagne (in the middle of my eyelid and lower inner corner of eyes), Sparkling Wine & Leopard Brown.

Also used their Styling Eye Eyeliner in Brown! It’s an automatic pencil and I found it creamy and easy to use ; )

Another item which surprised me pleasantly was their Lash Perm All Shockcara!

I was at the counter, asked the girl “which Mascara is your best and does it all?” and she gave me this.

It supposedly gives your lashes volume, lengthens (it has fibres) curls, and is waterproof (coats your lashes) to boot!

The mascara definitely lives up to its claim as it was hard to remove even with Bioderma / Bifesta. Instead, I had to use Bifacil with a Q-tip… and then use warm water to rinse it off!

Another picture with a more color accurate representation of the eye color.

These days I’ve been fond of using warmer colors on my lids, and I have no idea why, haha. It goes very well with both my brown and grey lenses! Used an orange blush instead of my usual pink.

Recap of products used:

  • Etude House Magic Any Cushion (Mint / Pink / Peach) – $29 SGD each, refill $14 each.
  • Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion – $32 SGD each, refill $16 SGD each.
  • Etude House Lash Perm All Shockcara – $22.90 SGD

Shiseido MaQuillAGE Spring / Summer 2014 Base & Point Makeup Photos & Swatches

By | Base, beauty, EOTD, Eyes, Eyeshadow, Lips, Make Up | 8 Comments

I think even color provides me with a form of therapy – else I have no idea on how I can explain feeling so inexplicably happy when I saw blue and white all over Shiseido MaQuillAGE’s Spring / Summer 2014 makeup that was sent to me!

I mean, that’s beside receiving a beautiful white rose on top of all that on Valentines’ Day itself!

Thank you, Shiseido!

What to expect in Shiseido’s Spring / Summer Base & Point Make (this is how they refer to it in Japan!):

  • True Liquid Long Keep UV (liquid foundation in a tube, $60 SGD)
  • Beauty Keep Base UV (base / primer, $60 SGD)
  • Essence Glamorous Rouge Neo (Lip gloss, 6 new Colors, 2 limited shades $43, SGD each)
  • True Rouge (Lip stick, 2 new colors, $49 SGD each)
  • True Eye Shadow (2 palettes – Pink or Blue, $69 SGD each)
  • True Highlight (Limited Edition highlighter with a brush, Price $56 SGD)

Sooo… photos and swatches!

First and foremost…

True Liquid Long Keep UV

Liquid Foundation with SPF 30PA +++

The foundation comes with a sponge for better application – the sponge has two different surface textures!

Available in 6 shades, the foundation is supposed to be ultra-thin and lightweight – it diminishes pores and shine as it selectively absorbs only sebum and solidifies for a matte and smooth finish (claims to last up to 13 hours!). Contains ingredients like Super Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin so your face is well moisturized!

I was given OC20, which turned out to be just a little too pink and very slighttttlyyy dark for my face – I think I could go with OC10 instead! Seems like my peels and lasers worked : p Brigher complexion, woohoo! The foundation is pretty opaque so you really need just a very tiny amount!

True Highlight

Gives skin bright luster and radiance - creates three-dimensional and translucent finish!

This highlighting powder comes in the same form and shape as the True Cheek blush which was launched last year – it basically powder in a portable tube casing and comes with a horse-hair brush already in it!

I’ve always loved the cheek blush cos it’s so convenient to bring around and the fluffy brush is a nice difference from the flat brushes compacts usually have. This spring, the True Highlight is Limited Edition so there are no refills purchasable, but you can always buy the cheek refill to use the brush with when you run out of it! *genius* (okay la, not really haha)

Little things that matter - the safety seal is easy to remove, and is peforated so the label still stays there!

Little things that matter – the safety seal is easy to remove, and is peforated so the label still stays there!

Like the True Cheek, it comes with a tube to protect the brush when you want to slide it back into the tube, preventing frays and snagging.

It gives a soft shimmer all over – but be sure to tap away excess before applying on your face, as you can’t control how much product is picked up when you pull it out of the tube!

Eventually if you need to dip it into the tube again to get more powder, just twist it and the brush will automatically have powder swept on it. ; )

Essence Glamorous Rouge Neo & True Rouge

A gloss to instantly plump up your lips and a moisturizing lip stick with lasting shine, moisture and color!

The Essence Glamorous Rouge is available in 6 new colors - 2 of which are limited edition shades!

“The Essence Glamorous Rouge is moisturizing and provides intensive care for the lips – it hydrates and seals in moisture with the Moisture Holding Essence. An Elastic Gel film envelopes dry lips like an essence mask, to maintain perfect fullness for hours.”

Available in 2 new vibrant colors, the True Rouge conceals dullness and lines on lips!

“It spreads with a light dewy texture and smoothly adheres to your lips – it is also scented with Essential Aroma Rose, and includes shimmering pearls to help achieve a gloss-enhanced finish. “

The colors I got are RD406 (for the lip gloss) and PK701 (for True Rouge). To be, both are beautiful colors which complement each other when layered together! I love how dainty the lip gloss tube is too! The rose scent isn’t too overpowering upon application.

True Eye Shadow

Available in Fresh Pink or Elegant Blue

Shiseido Maquillage True Eyeshadow in Elegant Blue

Shiseido Maquillage True Eyeshadow in Elegant Blue

Super glad that I received the elegant blue, cos it made me really happy! I love blues, and this palette is just so pretty!

*in love*

Like most Japanese palettes, this one came with instructions – even the applicators are labelled perfectly!

I wouldn’t say this palette is pigmented (typical of Japanese eyeshadows) but it’s just so gorgeous! Shade 1 and 4 are actually infused with multi-colored shimmers – I see flecks of pink and green in them! *MAJOR LOVE FOR SUCH EYESHADOWS* And look at that lovely taupe, which is shade 3!

4 is an eyeliner shade – they are numbered by appliation steps – basically The japanese apply it in a gradient manner and you layer and gradient them from lightest to darkest, top to bottom:

  1. Luminious Highlight base – use the largest tip and apply all over upper eyelid
  2. Main Color (the blue!) – use one side of the smaller tip to apply it approx 2/3 of your eyelids
  3. Harmonizing Shadow (the taupe!) – using the other side of the smaller white tip, apply it 1/3 of your eye area, nearer to your lash line.
  4. Eyeliner color – the tip for 4 is extremely unique – it’s an eyeliner pointed tip which allows for precise application with lines that are not too harsh, and I love it! This makes the palette so complete – You can just throw this in your bag and you don’t even need to bring along eyeliner cos this palette already has it!
  5. Under-eye Highlight Base – Apply below eye, on top of your concealer to set it – skip this set if you already have concealer set.
Step 1

Step 1

Step 2 + 3

Step 2 + 3 (blue first, then taupe over blue)

Step 4, eyeliner

Step 4, eyeliner (whoops, hair and some fallout)

Conclusion? GET, if you love soft, pretty looks! This goes amazingly well with dark brown / black eyes too.

Conclusion? GET, if you love soft, pretty looks! This goes amazingly well with dark brown / black eyes too. (Eyelash extensions by Japanese Salon, Graceous! ; ))

(p.s. – really happy with my graceous lashes! I did them before Chinese new year, so it means it’s been well over 3 weeks without touching up and they’re still going strong! If anything, they look wispier and even more natural for me.)

The eyeshadows are very typically Japanese – soft and harmonious but that also means it’s work safe, super easy to apply – not much blending skills needed! From time to time I enjoy soft palettes like these – and with 4 colors in a pan (5th is a setting powder) there’s definitely more than one way to apply the eyeshadow.

The MaQuillAGE Spring/Summer 2014 make up collection will be launched in Singapore on 1st of March, at all Shiseido counters! ; )

[ Collection was captured with the wonderfully color accurate Fujifilm XM-1 + kit 16-50mm lens! ]

Burberry Complete Eye Palette in 03, Pale Nude

Burberry Complete Eye Palette in 03, Pale Nude

{ Burberry Complete Eye Palette #03 Pale Nude, $76.50 }

While the colors were not the usual smoky ones I love, this palette was still beautiful in my eyes – it came during the CNY season, and it was just perfect on 初三 because of the angpao-red Love, Bonito dress I was planning to wear!

I mean, if there’s already gonna be a very strong red / black combi on you, then your makeup should be pared down a little – and that’s exactly what I did!

Here’s a close up of the beautiful colors in the pan – they are mostly matte/pearly (the white), and oh so pretty!

Of course, how could we do without an arm swatch? ; D

The colors are soft, very neutral, and the yellow blends into my skintone like there’s nothing there, but the matte texture means that his palette can be put to many different uses – you could use the brown very lightly as a contour color for your nose! Plus the palette comes with not just one, but a total of 3 different brushes!

I really like the texture of the Burberry eyeshadows and it’s been raved about by quite a few make up bloggers too – and best of all, on Best Buy World, you get 10% off the retail price and it’ll cost $76.50 SGD as compared to $85.00!

Here are two pics of me wearing just the eyeshadows and nothing else (no eyeliner,!) and of course false eyelash extensions but that’s a story for another day!

I really like how it makes me look like I have deeper set eyes without being overly harsh – and the neutral, soft colors means that you don’t need to be too precise in application!

I would totally recommend you to check out the Burberry Eyeshadow Palettes, especially if you’re looking for work-safe palettes! (Purchase here)

Okay, my favorite eye shadows aside, Best Buy World also sent me some other items to complete an entire look!

I guess the radiant factor in this BB Cream comes from the slightly pink tinge – even though it’s named Classic Beige.

Pinkish bases work well to color correct yellowish and sallow skin tones, and produces a radiant complexion – but in my case, I don’t have a pink based skin tone, but it’s sensitive and a little red from that so if to counter that, I’ll have to use a yellow based primer before applying this. However I feel that that defeats the purpose so I’ll recommend people with sallow skin to try this as the BB Cream is of a pretty nice texture, and spreads rather well! (Purchase here)

{ Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara #01 Black, $6.50 for 2.8ml }

I unfortunately have false lashes on so I couldn’t try this on, but the brush picked up ample product and applied easily, even on my hand! (I just used one swipe on the swatch below)

It is however, not water resistant but some people do like that – for example, it doesn’t affect me very much so I’m quite sure that I’ll enjoy using this when I take my lashes off! (Purchase here)

It is dark and water resistent, but rubs off easily and even more so in warm water. I'd say if you're just looking for a little definition with your lashes and you don't have a running mascara/liner moment, you could most definitely use this!

Next up was the next most exciting item in the package other than the Burberry Eyeshadow…

{ Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour #Lotus Pink, $37.80 SGD }

This was the 3rd full sized item in the stash, other than the BB Cream and the Burberry Eyeshadow palette and I love it!

“A light-as-air, velvety powder blush that sweeps on silky sheer color easily and evenly. With skin-silkening natural botanicals, skin not only looks but also feels beautiful all day long.”

The blush can go on a bit heavy, so do diffuse it a little or tap off the excess before applying!

Lotus Pink is a rather outstanding shade and looks really pink in the pan, but don’t be afraid – simply tap off the excess and go with a light hand, or use a fluffy brush which will pick up less product – and it will render you a healthy glow on your face!

You also get to save 10% off retail price over counter, at $37.80 SGD instead of $42 SGD! (Purchase here)

{ Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Luminous Lip Gloss #Red Door Red, $12 SGD for 4ml }

If there’s one thing I can’t seem to finish, it’s my lipsticks – I have so many of then I barely take 1cm off any one tube or make a dent in any of them because I’m always using different colors on my face – That’s why I really love deluxe sized samples, especially when I need touch ups on the go!

(I brought along a total of 15 lipsticks for my San Francisco trip and oh boy, was that pouch HEAVY!!!)

I have a fondness for miniature stuff so I really loved both the miniature mascara and lip gloss sent to me.

Red door red is a bright cherry red color which many girls would love – I find this shade a little cool-toned and would seem to be suitable for many skin tones!

Cherry Red!

Cherry Red!

I had to apply this 2-3 times because it can go on a little sheer – it reaches good opacity at the 2nd coat, and it’s so glossy! It also has pretty good lasting power and doesn’t have any funky smell, which is important for me (sometimes certain scents can render me a little dizzy). (Purchase here)

Sorry about the slightly off application! I only saw that on the photo ._.

Here’s the complete look which you saw a bit earlier and a few more pictures!

If you haven’t heard of Best Buy World (BBW) before, well, it is a Singapore-based online shopping website established in 2007 and their objective is to provide a safe and convenient e-commerce environment for Singaporeans who love shopping and hunting for bargains online!

And that’s how I came across this website actually – before this advertorial, I have shopped on BBW quite a few times – for their travel sets which are so convenient (no need to lug heavy bottles with me on my overseas trips!) and also for eyelashes which were not available in Singapore previously! I’ll have to say that their delivery is fast and reliable – saving me the time to head out (and spending more money on parking, food, drinks, and time walking…).

They also operate in Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong and carries an extensive array of products, ranging from Skincare, Makeup, Fragrances, Bags, Accessories and even Health Care products!

Do take a look at their website at to see what they offer – perhaps you’ll set your eyes on something you’ll need! ; )
