Get Awesome Skin with Skin Inc!

By | beauty, Exfoliators, Masks, Serums & Others, Skincare | One Comment

“Their eye mask really good! Really! Their facials too!”

… were the words coming from Tricia’s mouth, who is either 1) Blessed with EXTREMELY GOOD SKIN or 2) Harvesting all the goodness from her Skin Inc facials and masks – This woman was then without an ounce of make up, and STILL radiant looking without any sign of lethargy even though she probably sleeps only 6 hours a day?!!?

I also want leh!!!

Who doesn’t want skin that glows from within, right?! (Like what Yina said too…)

And it’s not just her – Velda and Bea are also users of Skin Inc (check out their pictures on Instagram at @iloveskininc!) – and these two ladies have such awesome skin, they look perfect even without make up! (Me on the other hand.. I always need concealer and a light layer of foundation before I’d dare to step out the door.)

I’ve been meaning to try out Skin Inc (both facials and products) ever since I’ve witnessed the results on my girlfriends’ faces – So yes, imagine how excited I was (overused sentence by many, but my true sentiments!) when the Nuffies told me that Skin Inc would be sponsoring me a set of their skin care products, and on top of that, something for my readers! (Read on, read on) Perfect for Christmas, innit?

My happy skin parcel ; )

My happy skin parcel ; )

My skincare goodies came in a gift box and it felt like Christmas already! *rips open package*

What I got was Skin Inc’s Pure Revival Peel, Pure Snow White+ Mask, and their famous My Daily Dose™ serum! This is a quick 3-step regime to achieve whiter, radiant skin!

These items’ arrival was just timely, because I’ve been out in the sun for the entire 15 days of my holiday – and let me tell you, the weather was cooling and all, but the sun was pretty merciless in San Francisco, and ESPECIALLY Las Vegas, which is the driest state in USA! In fact, temperatures in LV can reach 52 degrees in the summer (GASP!) – I was glad that I brought my sunnies along, and yes, I slapped on sunblock EVERYDAY.

It’s gonna be a little more technical and word heavy here, but please bear with me – you should read it to find out how their products work to give you brighter, and more radiant skin!

Pure Revival Peel
(100ml, $104 SGD)

Skin Inc’s Pure Revival Peel adheres to old keratin and other impurities that make the skin look dull- micro fibres in the Pure Revival Peel sweeps up the old keratin and impurities as you massage it gently over your skin, which reveals new epidermal cells without stripping your skin like most other exfoliants and acid peels and allows moisture and active ingredients in your products to penetrate the deeper skin layers better.

Pure Snow White+ Mask
(100ml, $286 SGD)

For snow white skin – When a thin layer of this mask – which contains 16 potent ingredients – is slathered over skin, a field of positive ions form over the skin, and pulls negatively charged melanin ions from deep within the skin to its surface. This neutralizes negative ions, purges skin-darkening melanin, and gives you instantly brighter and more translucent skin after just one application.

My Daily Dose™
(30ml, $169 SGD)

Award-winning My Daily Dose™ is customised for your skin identity at the present moment and takes into account your lifestyle, which directly affects your skin condition. It features Skin Inc’s encapsulated serums from Japan, which contain 100 per cent active ingredients, encased in capsules to maintain freshness and effectiveness. These caviar-inspired capsules burst upon contact with the skin, dousing skin with high-performance active ingredients.

I’ve mentioned that this ia a 3-step regime to brighter, fairer skin, so let’s get behind the science of it all and walk you through the 3 steps!

Step 1 – Prep

Getting rid of old Keratin with Skin Inc's Pure Revival Peel

Usage Instructions: Apply with dry hands on dry face, leave it on for 10 seconds, and then massage in circular motion. Rinse off old keratin which will appear as small granules, and ta-dah!

The Pure Revival Peel (100ml) comes in a pump bottle, which dispenses clear gel in a hygienic way *stamp of approval*.

The Pure Revival Peel (100ml) comes in a pump bottle, which dispenses clear gel in a hygienic way *stamp of approval*.

Now I have this thing about not reading print too carefully, so I just glanced through and saw “10 seconds, massage in circular motion) and I thought it was weird since it was called a peel. I think I’ve been thinking about Glycolic Acid peels too much hahaha.

So when I rubbed it in circular motions, I was surprised cos I felt all the old skin cells being rubbed off (into little white clumps)!

This way of exfoliation was gentle, and it didn’t hurt at all – unlike abrasive scrubs and acid peels, the peel removed dead skin cells pretty quickly and effectively by adhering to old keratin and other impurities which makes the skin look dull – and a milky substance forms after you leave it to react (the 10 seconds) and the old keratin + impurities are gently swept away as you massage your face in circular motions.

(please excuse the scabs from the laser I did a few days ago!)

I know it sounds a lot like some other peels without exfoliating beads and bits, but here’s what’s different – I didn’t smell any alcohol, there was no stinging sensation (like how some other brands would) and it is also Paraben-free!

On top of all that, Pure Revival Peel also contains high-performance active ingredients like:

  • AC-11 (a plant-based derivative which is a natural activator of skin repair).
  • Arbutin (brightens your skin)
  • and Fullerene (a powerful antioxidant which seeks out and stops free radicals)

The combination of all these powerful ingredients meant that the Pure Revival Peel not only exfoliates; it detoxes your skin cells, prolongs cell life, strengthens collagen and elasticity and repairs UV damage – restoring your skin on the molecular level! It acts like a super-dynamic primer, maximizing the absorption of active ingredients in your daily skincare products, leaving you with plump, happy skin which allows makeup to glide on perfectly!

Now that we’re done with prepping the skin…

Step 2 – Nourish

Pamper your skin with My Daily Dose™

It’s time to get all 3 types of goodness from this one bottle of My Daily Dose on your face!

This is actually my second bottle of My Daily Dose™, which is a customized mix of 3 different types of serums best suited for your skin’s needs. Everyone has different issues – be it dry skin, open pores, oily skin, or pigmentation. You can choose up to 3 different types of serums to be mixed into one bottle – this means that you can target more problems with just one step using one serum, instead of having to layer 3 different ones for different skin issues!

It's customizable all the way to the bottle - I love Blue & Purple, and so happens that they picked the Purple one for me without me asking! Thank you!!!

Skin inc believes that skin care should be authentic, fuss free, and fun – that’s why My Daily Dose™ Serums are customizable all the way to the bottle – I love Blue & Purple, and I already have the blue – just so happens that they picked the Purple one for me, much to my delight! It really makes me happy looking at my favorite colors in my white and grey bathroom – Thank you!

Prior to this, Jeneen, the pretty marketing manager of Skin Inc, asked if I needed to redo my skin check as my skin concerns may have changed. My skin has been undergoing a lot of changes these few months and I felt that I should just just to double check. And indeed, it’s changed slightly!

Skin Inc’s skin check is conveniently available online – this means that you don’t need to specially head down to the store(s) to get your skin analyzed – just answer a few questions about your lifestyle and concerns, and the online system will automatically pick out which 3 serums are the best for your current skin type.

There are currently 9 kinds of serums for you to choose from, depending on your skin problems:

  • Reborn – Collagen
  • Reinforce – Ceramide
  • Renew – Coenzyme 10 (has healing benefits)
  • Regenerate – Vitamin A
  • Revitalize – Placenta
  • Replenish – Hyaluronic Acid
  • Repair – Pycnogenol (extract of Pine bark, has anti-oxidant properties)
  • Relieve – Licorice (fights redness / rosacea and has whitening benefits)
  • Regulate – Vitamin C
Are you able to spot three differently colored caviar-like capsules? My personal Daily Dose serum is a mix of three types of serums - Revitalize, Regenerate and Replenish!

Are you able to spot three differently colored caviar-like capsules?
My personal Daily Dose serum is a mix of three types of serums – Revitalize Placenta (Plant Extract), Regenerate Vitamin A and Replenish Hyaluronic Acid!

All the serums are paraben-free and fragrance-free, contain 100 per cent active ingredients encased in capsules to maintain freshness and effectiveness. These caviar-like capsules burst upon contact with the skin, dousing the skin with high-performance active ingredients, and are specially imported from Japan to boot!

THAT paragraph alone has me sold on it. Paraben-free, check. Quality product from Japan, check! This means it’s suitable even for people with sensitive skin – and yes, I’ve tried it – no scent, no irritation – it’s so concentrated that three drops are all you need for it to work its magic!

Step 3 – Brighten

Moisturize and get radiant with Pure Snow White+ Mask

It just takes 10 minutes for this mask to work its ionizing miracle – with 16 potent ingredients in this 100ml tub, it takes less than a catnap to give you snow white, flawless skin.

“When a thin layer of this mask is slathered over skin, a field of positive ions form over the skin, and pulls negatively charged melanin ions from deep within the skin to its surface. This unique ion attraction technology neutralizes negative ions, purges skin-darkening melanin, and gives you instantly brighter and more translucent skin just after one application.”

How this mask works: Apply a thin layer of the mask and let it sit for 10 minutes, then remove with warm water.

“You may feel a slight tingling sensation due to the ionization process”

NOPE, Not for me! No tingling sensation at all. In fact I applied this mask right after having my laser done, and I’m masking as I’m typing this right now. Like the other two products, it’s also paraben and scent free + made in Japan as well!

Did you know that… (It’s gonna be a little dry here, but it’s an interesting read!)

Your body actually produces pigmentation to protect your skin; when exposed to the sun, your body signals the body to trigger the action tyrosinase, an enzyme which helps produce melanin cells to shield your skin from UV rays.

Scuterllaria Baicalensis in the Pure Snow White+ Mask can regulate the actions of this spot-forming enzyme, while preventing general skin darkening and sunburn. In fact, just 1% of this potent potion can control over 100% of tyrosinase production! It is also a powerful ingredient known to shrink pore size after just one application.

On top of all that goodness, the Pure Snow White+ Mask also contains Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Natto Gum, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract and Hyaluronic Acid, which moisturizes and plumps skin for a smooth, even surface so that light bounces off perfectly – which gives you a radiant appearance, as more light is reflected from the skin!

In short (okay, not very short), this mask promises to do all these for you:

  • Whiten your skin (Licorice root extract is nature’s whitener, inhibits tyrosinase and melanin production)
  • Reduce formation of pigmentation (Ascorbyl Glucoside, a stable form of Vitamin C)
  • Anti-Aging (Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, an algae extract with carotenoids and amino acids prevent photo-ageing)
  • Decrease pore size (studies in Japan has shown up to 50% decrease in pore size!)
  • Smooth out your skin and prime your face for easier makeup application
  • Reduce sebum production, increase moisture levels & minimize fine lines (Panax Ginseng Root Extract)
  • Anti-inflammatory (Morus Alba Root Extract) and Anti-oxidant/fungal (Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract)
  • Reflect UV Rays for an instant whitening effect (Y-Titanium Dioxide)

There are many, many more ingredients that go into this and makes this mask so wonderful and worth the price tag. If I’m gonna list all of them out you’ll probably fall asleep reading, haha.

Most importantly – If you use it everyday, for 21 days, you WILL achieve noticeable brightening and lightening of unsightly age spots, scars and sun spots!

This is something I’m definitely trying out – I’m on day 3 of 21 days, heh… Let’s see how it goes, but I definitely saw results on day 1 (Could be the Y-Titanium Dioxide working ; ) )! Come on man, make me brighter than Tricia Ong! ; p

And for those wondering why do you use the serum before the mask – I asked the same question too – it’s because when your skin is sufficiently hydrated, it will absorb products more effectively! Hence if you choose to do step 3, you would find yourself going back to Step 2 again just before moisturizing!

I have personally tried out all products before writing this – and I have experienced ZERO skin irritation, whatsoever. Not so much as even getting red or feeling any itch. I love their products because I know it’s paraben-free – recently I’ve been trying out tonnes of skincare for my troubled skin and this doesn’t make my skin flare up at all – and hey, no new acne! ; D I know it’s a little pricey, but it’s Christmas and a good time to indulge yourself! (Or your girlfriend, if you’re a guy reading this!)

The quickest way to test the efficacy and suitability of this product would probably to try out a facial with Skin Inc first – and if you like the results from the facial, you could purchase My Daily Dose™ Serum at $20 off if you quote my name – Evonne! (Valid till 31st Dec) Of course, you could purchase it without trying the facial – It’ll also make a great gift for your beloved girlfriends or even your mum – it’s a season of giving, after all!

My Skincare Routine (May 2013)

By | beauty, Cleansers, Moisturizers, Serums & Others, Skincare | One Comment

No better time to do this than now, because I had to bring my skincare items and talk about them a few weeks ago at a survey.

I do tend to try out new stuff every now and then, but I’m happy to find a reliable routine and these are my go-to products on a usual day!

Step 1: Cleanse

For cleansing, I use both Shu Uemura’s Anti/Oxi (A/O) Skin Refining Anti-dullness Cleansing Oil, and Fancl’s Washing Powder – but not always both together.

In the morning, I just use either one alone – but preferably Shu Uemura’s A/O Cleansing Oil (1-2 pumps) because it is gentle and dry me out. At the survey, one of the ladies actually mentioned that she only washes her face with water in the morning – I don’t disagree with that (you cannot disagree with her clear, smooth complexion) but I just don’t feel comfortable just washing with water, especially since I need to get rid of oil build up and all so that my makeup goes on better.

If I have make up on, I will pump out a liberal amount of Shu Uemura’s A/O Cleansing Oil (3-4 pumps) on dry hands, and massage it in a circular motion to dissolve my make up – make sure your face is dry too, because the oil emulsifies upon contact with water. Cleanse with water and voila! If I have really thick make up on, I will take on an extra step and use Fancl’s Washing Powder to double cleanse, although Shu’s rep has mentioned that it is not necessary to do so.

I have to sing praises for the Shu Uemura A/O Cleansing Oil because it is extremely efficient at removing all traces of make up – plus, I can clearly see that my pores are less clogged – I’ve never seen my nose so clean before! It is a bit of a struggle when it comes to removing mascara though, so I’ll still use Heroine Make’s mascara remover before using Shu’s A/O Cleansing Oil.

Shu’s latest A/O Cleansing oil is formulated with Green Tea & Moringa Extracts, and Moringa is a great anti-oxidant – it captures and clears away harmful pollutants as well as oxidative sebum in an instant.

Shu has a total of 4 cleansing oils in their series (A/O, White Efficient, Fresh Clear Pore, High Performance), but I’ve only tried A/O, so I’m not sure how the others perform – I’m pretty keen in testing out the Fresh Clear Pore after I’m done with A/O. The 150ml bottle has a lock mechanism which is great for traveling – I’d recommend the 150ml if you’re just trying this out first.

In case you need to know how it is used (image from the www):

As for Fancl’s Washing Powder, it is gentle, soothing, and I get a kick out of using it with the foaming ball. My face feels a lot cleaner than using other cleansers and best of all, no tight feeling! Other than that, I know that Fancl’s products are usually formulated without preservatives and all, so I do feel that this is good for me.

Another cleanser I like would be Philosophy’s Purity 3-in-1 cleanser for face & eyes, for its gentle, non drying formula and the scent too.

  • Shu Uemura AO Cleansing Oil – $58 SGD (150ml), $130 SGD (450ml)
  • Fancl Washing Powder – $26 SGD (1 bottle, 50g), $48.50 SGD (2 bottles, 50g x 2) / Foaming ball is $1 SGD each.
  • Philosophy Purity 3-in-1 Cleanser – $35 SGD (240ml)

Step 2: Tone

9225596There’s a lot to choose from in my stash actually, but I find myself attracted to the soothing herbal scent of Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Toner most, ever since I tried a mini bottle (which is what you see here) from a Bellabox – I have a 250ml one sitting on my shelf now!

I use this two ways –

  1. In the morning or when I didn’t put on any make up, I just simply pat this on with my bare (and very clean) hands after cleansing.
  2. If I’m using this after makeup removal/cleansing,  I’ll wipe down with a cotton pad first just in case (It’s just a habit of mine), then pat on with bare hands or use a cotton pad to pat it on.

Kiehl’s has been giving back and have marked down their prices permanently, and I was pleased to find out that they’ve been marked down by this much for the Calendula Toner!

Kiehl’s Calendula  Toner Prices

  • 125ml $54 ➡ $40 SGD
  • 250ml $78 ➡ $58 SGD
  • 500ml $110 ➡ $90 SGD

Step 3: Serums (Extra care)

evonnz_skincare_routine_serumsI’m not sure if it’s Shu Uemura’s AO Cleansing Oil, or Shu Uemura’s Tsuya Skin Youthful Radiance Generator, but my face was instantly less oily from the moment I started using this combination. It is wonderful, because my skin has gone from extremely oily to just oily. I can feel the difference instantly – first from the lesser oil build up I get at night, to the fact that my make up lasts longer on me. And yes, my skin does seem more radiant than before!

Shu Uemura’s Tsuya Skin can also be layered, so you either use it alone, or use it before your other serums. I have quite a few serums in my stash, and one of my favorite to layer with it would be Biotherm’s Blue Therapy Serum, for anti-aging and also because I like the scent of this range!

  • Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin Serum – $108 SGD (30ml)
  • Biotherm Blue Therapy Serum – $99 SGD (30ml), $129 SGD (50ml)

Step 4: Moisturize

If you’re sharp, you would have noticed that there’s no moisturizer in the picture above! That’s because I’m still searching for a holy grail one – I have a few which I’m rotating, and are quite gentle to use, as listed below.

  • Ettusais White Shooter Dual Effect  – Gentle on the skin, but it’s pretty watery so some may not get used to this.
  • Biotherm AquaSource – I’m in love with the scent of this. It’s gel based, so it gets absorbed pretty fast into my skin and so far, no aggravation.
  • Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – This is strictly speaking not a moisturizer, but sometimes using this alone is actually enough for my skin and it does aid oil control. The calming scent is a bonus for me!
  • Origins Plantscription Anti Aging Cream – Origins is a skincare brand I always trust, and the cream may look hard to deal with because it is a cream, but it actually goes on pretty easily and it is really moisturizing! Doesn’t clog my pores, and has a great scent to boot.
  • Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle & Pore Reducing Cream – it is a little hard to spread for me, but if you get your palms suitably warmed up enough it does help it to go on easier – this provides adequate moisture for my skin.

  • Ettusais White Shooter Dual Effect – $42 SGD (170ml)
  • Biotherm AquaSource Moisturizer – $69 SGD (50ml)
  • Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – $90 ➡ $80 SGD (30ml)
  • Origins Plantscription Anti-aging Cream – $110 SGD (50ml)
  • Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle & Pore Reducing Cream – $80 SGD (50ml)

Eye Care

Step 5: Eyes

My Eyes have always been one of the biggest concerns because I wear contact lens all the time (all the tugging and pulling) plus I spend long hours on the computer for work. I’ve tried out a few items which I like and think works for me.

The Génifique Eye Light-Pearl™ has a massager which is a joy to use. It really helps to boost circulation around the eyes and the massager means you don’t have to use your fingers and tug on your skin unnecessarily. My girlfriend Mag has been using this for quite a while now and I think it works wonderfully well for her – and she likes it!

The other two items which I love are pretty similar in terms of usage and function – both Make Up Store’s Cooling Eye Stick and Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Eye De-puffer are basically like a fat lip balm – product is dispensed when you twist it and they both are cooling when applied – and you don’t need a mirror to use this so I tend to do my work halfway and quickly roll this over my eyes for quick relief. I have one stationed on my table all the time!

  • Génifique Eye Light-Pearl™ – $110 (20ml)
  • Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Eye De-puffer – $45 (5g)
  • Make Up Store Cooling Eye Stick

Some beauty experts have recommended using eye care right after serums and before moisturizers, but as long as you wash your hands and don’t get moisturizers near your eye areas (to avoid getting millia seeds), I think this as a last step is fine.

Hope this entry wasn’t too long and that it helped! I’m not paid to write about of the products, even though I’ve been sent some of the products – I’m grateful that I get to try these stuff out and I’m just sharing about which ones worked well for me.

The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso BB Serum Inside

By | Base, beauty, FOTD, Make Up, Serums & Others, Skincare | No Comments

“Delivering superior skincare benefits, Moisture White Shiso BB Serum Inside instantly brightens, corrects, protects and cares for your complexion, making it the multi-tasking must-have for busy, time-pressed mornings. With a wonderfully lightweight, smooth texture, our sensational serum-infused bb cream is a joy to apply.

Suitable for all skin types, its radiant beige shade was specially developed to suit most asian skin tones.the good level of coverage provides a natural finish. Perfect!”

What is Shiso?
Shiso, which belongs to the mint family, shouldn’t be too unrecognizable – it is commonly used in food, more commonly so in Japanese dishes as a receptacle holding wasabi, radish or various garnishes.

The Body Shop’s entire Moisture White Shiso range is infused with a powerful combination of natural ingredients. Shiso, Vitamin C, Liquorice and community fair trade organic Aloe Vera work together in a special complex designed to help one achieve a luminous skin tone. A renowned antioxidant, Vitamin C helps reduce excessive melanin production. rich in flavonoids, liquorice is known to enhance skin-brightening, and aloe vera is prized for its soothing and cooling properties.

The BB cream and serum combined also offers a long list of benefits:
• Brightens
• Instantly Hydrates
• Natural Finish
• Blends Easily
• Soothes
• Evens skin tone
• Lightweight
• UV Protection (Mineral sunscreen SPF 25 PA +++)

The formula behind this success is a unique blend of Shiso, Vitamin C and Community Fair Trade Aloe vera. 71% of 100 Asian women saw instantly fairer skin upon application.

I found the BB Cream easy to apply – it glides across my skin smoothly when I used my fingers, without powdering up or such like some bb creams. It’s rather thick, and offers sufficient coverage. The Body Shop’s Moisture White Shiso BB Serum Inside also instantly whitens my skin without making me look too unnaturally white. I feel that it’s very very very slightly greyish though, but more of a light grey beige than as grey as, say, Lancome’s UV Expert BB Complete.

The difference in skin tone / the brightening effect is super obvious when I did only half of my face and looked in the sun. I kept adjusting myself cos I thought the sunlight was shining down on me unevenly! I guess… I’m part of the 71% of women who saw their face brighten up instantly. I did wonder if the other 29% are already super fair so they didn’t see much results? Heh.

When it comes to oil control, the BB Cream didn’t perform too well, unfortunately. It started oiling up at the 3-4 hour mark – not dewy, but reflective oily. And this was with loose powder already on… I guess one should be prepared to have blotters and powders ready for touch up if you have a long day out.

The BB Cream will only be launched in shops on 4th March 2013, and will retail for $39.90 SGD.

Radiant, Dewy skin with The Body Shop (FOTD/EOTD)

By | Base, beauty, EOTD, Eyes, Face, FOTD, Make Up, Moisturizers, Serums & Others, Skincare | 8 Comments

There was one afternoon where I was lazing on the bed after a particularly heavy lunch (don’t do this!) and was checking my mails on my phone – and just 10 minutes after I’ve read the email about The Body Shop sending me products, the delivery man arrived! With the said products in the email – wahlao, it was like some kind of *snap fingers* magic.

And in this little eco-friendly paper bag was a bunch of products specially picked by The Body Shop to help me achieve a radiant, dewy look based on results from the body shop’s skin diagnostic tool I’ve done earlier last week!

They’ve very sweetly packed both skincare and makeup for me to try. The star of the show and the hero? Nutriganics Drops of Youth!

• Nutriganics Drops of Youth ($58.90 SGD)
• Vitamin E Moisture Cream ($29.90 SGD)

(all the skincare items in this post are made in the UK)

Nutriganics Drops of Youth ($58.90 SGD)

The Body Shop’s Nutriganics Drops of Youth was launched back in 2012, but have been selling so well that based on 2012’s sales records, there’s a bottle sold every minute!

It is a lightweight, easily absorbed “youth-enhancing” concentrate which is to be applied after toner, and before your usual moisturizer. Squeeze out a drop of two on your palms and apply all over your face – I find that one pump (about 1.5 pea size) is sufficient for me. Let it get absorbed into your skin before applying your moisturizer.

The dropper cap works pretty well, but it can be a bit big of a drop – usually one pump is almost 3/4 of the entire dropper height!
It’s slightly viscous, and not entirely transparent a liquid, but it’s not sticky after application at all. There’s a very pleasant, fresh scent in this – it reminds me of jasmine green tea, the Heaven & Earth one.

I’m still in the midst of trying this out, and it’s only day 3, but no breakouts so far and I’ve got no complaints!
If you’d like to give this a try, act fast! The Nutriganics Drops of Youth is going at a special price of $42.90 SGD till 23rd Jan. That’s $16 saved (usual selling price is $58.90 SGD)!

Vitamin E Moisture Cream ($29.90 SGD for 50ml)

“Everybody’s favourite and our bestseller. An easily absorbed daily moisturising cream that has the lightness of a lotion with the moisturising benefits of a cream. It helps protect the skin, leaving it feeling soft, smooth and healthy-looking. “

The cream looks kind of thick (it’s a cream after all!) but I’ve found this to be excellent for my skin during the night time when I’ve got the air conditioner on. It moisturizes really well, and it smells lovely too – in fact it reminds me of a particular Johnson & Johnson baby bath shower gel!

The sample I’ve got is a 15ml jar, which is very handy for traveling and use in cold countries. I don’t find this oily at all, but it can be a little heavy, so use this when your skin is rather parched.

x ❤ x

The Body
day. I guess that’s what the sponge is made for. The compact has 2 compartments, one for the sponge, and one for the powder. There’s a mirror hidden in the powder compartment.

I received shade 02, which was a perfect match for me. Used The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Pore Minimizer underneath the powder for a smoother look, especially on my nose and cheeks. Coverage was light-medium used dry and it doesn’t cake on me.

x ❤ x

Shimmer Waves in Bronze ($36.90 SGD)

“Shimmer Waves can be swept together for an all over glow, or use individually to accent particular areas, making it the ultimate in compact colour!”

I realized that there’s an icon in both make up items to indicate where we can use this item on – and in Shimmer Waves in Bronze’s case, it can be used on both the eyes and the face!

However, if you’re intending to use this on your eyes, do understand that while build-able, it is really sheer, so you may take more than just a few swipes to get the color to show on your eyelids. I think the poor color payoff could be intentional, because as a bronzer this is just perfect – you won’t accidentally be too heavy handed with this one.

It really gave me a nice glow (check out the step by step diagram below) and I like using the gold shade as a highlighting color on the top of my cheeks.

x ❤ x

Baked-to-Last Eye Colour in Moonstone ($24.90 SGD)

“A duo of dazzling shades, handmade and slow-baked for up to eight hours of deliciously rich colour. Shimmering copper tones for gorgeous eyes.”

Oh boy, at first glance, this reminded me so much of Maybelline’s baked eyeshadows! Then again there’s just so many shapes the eyeshadows can come in, right? But if we’re comparing the two, The Body Shop’s Baked To Last eyeshadows come in better packaging than the Maybelline ones – it’s much sturdier (acrylic, I think?), but still light. The only complaint I have is with how it opens – if you don’t have nails, this will be an issue, but if you have long nails, you’ll risk scraping the eyeshadow by accident too. (Almost happened to me a few times!)

The color payoff is excellent, and I especially love the shade TBS has chosen and given to me – the taupe color is amazing. Both colors in the eyeshadow are shimmery with just the right amount of fine glitter – ooooh i love how it glitters so nicely.
It comes in 8 colors – Jade and Copper looks really nice!

Stages of making up…
I’m only human and I love picking at my pimples, unfortunately. Hence the red, angry spots. >_

After concealer – a mix of K-Palette and Amazing Concealer, I used The Body Shop’s All in One Face Base, and then I used the Shimmer Waves palette to give myself a healthy all over glow + contour using some of the darker shades at the sides of my face. As you can see, the Shimmer Waves in Bronze really gave me a nice glow all over (the foundation matted me out a little)!

(almost) All the Make up I’ve used:

Primer: The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser
Base: The Body Shop All In One Face Base
Eyeliner: The Body Shop Eye Definer in Golden Brown & Moonstone for lower inner eyelid
Eyeshadow: The Body Shop Baked To Last Eyeshadow in Moonstone
Eyebrows: Heavy Rotation Eyebrow Powder (review here) + DollyWink Eyebrow Mascara in 02
Mascara: Browlash Volume Lash Fibre (review and fotd here)
Blusher: Lancome Blush Subtil Rose #10 (read here for review)
Lenses: Acuvue Define Dailies in Vivid

Here’s a not very well done up diagram of how I did my eyes. I’ll try to be clearer next time…

* and don’t forget eyeliner!!! I usually wing my eyes.

Disclaimer: I’m not professionally trained as a make up artist, so my make up is quite hantum one – I don’t think there’s a lot of hard and fast rules (except for some dont-do’s) to make up, so I’m just doing it my own way. If you think there’s a particular technique that suits my eye shape more, I’ll be more than glad to hear what you have to say!

The products were sent to me for my unbiased review. Thank you, TBS SG!

If I may say this… I’m still very much in love with my hair. Which also coincidentally fits the green color branding of TBS, hahaha. Can’t wait to get more photos of the hair taken before all the roots grow out! (Damnit roots, you grow out too fast!)
