2014 – Foooood, food, food!

By | Brunch, Food, Life | No Comments

Was off to a great start by stuffing ourselves silly with good food!

We kicked off 2014 with a home-cooked meal… over at Ron’s! James came across a pack of Kyushu Pancake mix and a brunch date with the westies was promptly arranged.

It couldn’t have been done better, really aahaha. The set up was all by Ron – cheese, fruits, tea from Bentjeman & Barton (I brought that). Pancakes by me and James while the husband just played his games lol. And if you look closely, my pancakes are mini… and on top of the mini pancakes there’s one in the shape of a bear’s head HAHAHA.

And then came more home cooked food less than 5 days later.

This time round, was food prepared by the home chefs over at Au Yong’s!

Some more bread for us before they finished cooking - this was Walnut bread! They call it the fairytale bread lol (cos fairytales usually have bread in this long shape, hansel & gretel being the most memorable one of all!)

There was butter to go along with the 2 different types of bread (we had to control ourselves from over-indulging ourselves before the mains got served!)

But really, midnightjamlady Tse Wei's home made Apricot Jam tasted the best with the walnut bread!!! MUCH LOVE.

Speaking of which, Tse Wei has started her own makan blog (home recipes!) over at midnightjamlady.tumblr.com. Show some love for the wonderful chef! (She was previously heartlandpantry but I told her I honestly misread it as heartlandPANTY. LOL)

And when you thought that was all and was just digesting your heavy brunch while sprawled over their sofa like ungracious guests, they appear again with waffles x peach. Wahlao eh. STUFFED. But so HAPPY! (Yes it was delicious too!!!)

(And to break this Doge haiku hahaha what did I do to deserve such wonderful, talented friends?!??! : O Thank you all for filling my tummy!)

Basically I spent the first week of 2014 getting stuffed with food, by and with great company. And since this is such a backlogged entry *guilty look* I shall make it up by writing a bit more… like right now! But for more random updates, follow me on my dayre or instagram at @evonnz! ; )

Little Diner at 789 Bukit Timah Rd

By | Brunch, Food, Western | No Comments

Red Velvet Pancakes? YES PLEASE!

I’ve been meaning to check out this place for quite a while now but it seems like this place doesn’t like me planning trips down somehow. Both my trips to this place (once for a weekday dinner, once for weekend brunch) was unplanned and last minute spontaneous decisions!

Little Diner is an american styled eatery with some interesting food choices on the menu. A bit limited, but nonetheless well presented and very tantalizing to look at! They taste pretty good too, from what I’ve tried so far! Price range wise, it’s pretty alright ($13.50 for pancakes is pretty friendly!) but can get a little steep ($15.50 for truffle fries… but I’ll rather take their truffle fries over P.S. Cafe’s any day!)

Location

Where in Bukit Timah Road again?

Opening Hours: Closed on Mondays. Lunch: 1130 – 1430 (Tues – Fri). Dinner: 1800 – 2200 (2230 on Fri & Sat). Brunch on weekends & PH only, 1100 – 1500.

When it comes to parking, I’ve had no trouble getting a spot, but I went at 8pm & 230pm respectively which are rather late timings, so if it’s full you may have to park at Guthrie House behind. There’s a bus stop right beside the place and it’s not too inaccessible but try not to miss the entrance, or you may have to make some really troublesome U-turns.

little-diner-bukit-timah-brunch-and-dinner-truffle-fries-8

On my first trip there I realized that the place smells strongly… of truffle! It’s not a bad smell, but it’s the kind that will linger on your clothes and hair unless – and I have noticed that it’s more obvious during dinner time. There wasn’t much of a truffle scent during brunch, but I was all prepared to shower anyway when I got home, haha.

little-diner-bukit-timah-brunch-and-dinner-truffle-fries-2

The place had a rather cold feel to it with its cement patterened walls and floor, along with dark wooden furniture and black benches. I personally think this place could be a little cosier and comfier, but it would be quite a bitch to get truffle smell out of cushions and fabric sofas!

little-diner-bukit-timah-brunch-and-dinner-truffle-fries-3

The owners seem to be advocates of cycling. I love the impeccable English of the lady working there – after she read the specials on the board out to me in person, I was blown away by her “speech” and said – wow, you sound like you’re coming off a TV! Her dictation was impeccable and I loved it. “It’s called the former teacher in me,” she said before walking off with a smile. Heh. The hubs thought I was rude but hellooooo it’s a compliment! I like her angmo okay! Wish I could speak like that, with all the correct notes, haha.

The Food

Dinner & Brunch

My first time there was for dinner – I actually wanted brunch, but it was nice that I’ve experienced both breakfast and dinner times! You can make a reservation via Chope, and upon arrival, you’d find a little handwritten place card with your name on it.

Wasn't hard to miss "Yang Yang" on the sign. Every table's happily decorated with a tiny vase of happy flowers in a great color combi - these later made for extremely good props for photo-taking too, haha. And they're so tiny and unobtrusive! Our drinks for breakfast: Latte, and Apple juice. Wish it could have been freshly squeezed fruit juice, but that one's fine too!

I think Han had the special. So... I have no idea what this was, hahaha. #whyicannotbeaproperfoodblogger

And then for brunch over last weekend…

Croque Madame, $12.5 SGD

Red Velvet Pancakes, $13.50 SGD

Red Velvet Pancakes, $13.50 SGD

The red velvet pancakes were goooooood! Especially with the cream cheese frosting. I think I’m more in love with cream cheese than red velvet, but these are really yums and worth trying out! The price tag’s pretty good too and the portions aren’t too big, though I couldn’t finish all the pancakes in the end anyway).

Truffle Fries to-go, $15.50 SGD

Truffle Fries to-go, $15.50 SGD

The best thing to me was their truffle fries – these were da bomb the first time I tried them! I love their freshly handcut fries – the potato skin you see on the fries? YUM!!! I was all full from brunch but I _had_ to take them away back home for dinner. I love my fries soggy and these are a must-try if you love truffle fries.

I need to come back again and try more brunch items on the menu – Yina Goh, when are you free and most willing to travel down to Bukit Timah again for food!?

For faster updates, do follow me on Instagram! I love snapping pics and sharing them on instagram on the go, but sometimes I prefer the bokeh from my 20mm lens / gf-2 camera rather than pics from the iPhone, so I bought an SD card with Wifi, which allows me to download the pics from my card to my phone and I’ve never been happier! It takes up a little more battery power and you need to make sure your camera’s compatible with it before you can use it, but it’s been so easy editing and instagramming on the go (especially for OOTDs)! I got my 16GB Transcend wifi card (which is the cheapest on the market) from Fuwell in Sim Lim Square for about $80 odd (can’t rem the exact figure now) – look for Kelvin and ask him for the card! (I’m a frequent customer of Fuwell, haha).

Strangers’ Reunion @ Kampong Bahru

By | Brunch, Food, Sweet Treats, Western | No Comments

Some of us Nuffnang bloggers were invited to Strangers’ Reunion to sample their newest menu’s offerings, and it was a reunion of sorts indeed! Met up with the ones I was familiar with, and also some new faces for the night!

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-11

If you do a quick search, Strangers’ Reunion is located at 37 Kampong Bahru Road – it is my first time there so I had to google – and the map tried to lead me to god knows where. But if you type in Strangers Reunion instead of 37 Kampong Bahru Road, it routes you to the right place! It’s just a little down Cantonment Police HQ towards the west (AYE/Queensway).

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-7

Strangers Reunion

37 Kampong Bahru Road Singapore 169356
Tel: 6222 4869
Opening Hours: 9am – 10pm, closed on Tuesdays

Parking… well don’t wait along the main road, which I did for 5 minutes – turn left and you’ll find yourself with two lanes of parking (50 cents per half an hour till 10pm) and I found a lot rather quickly and easily too. You’ll have to get out of the area by 10pm though, it’s season parking only after 10pm.

Anyway, I entered through the backdoor because of where I parked – and thank god there was a backdoor! The first beautiful sight I chanced upon was the toilet sink, ahhaha. The toilets were clean, thumbs up for that! (I really hate eating places without clean toilets)

The interior of the cafe is an eclectic mix of simple, industrial chic – you’ll see much concrete, wood, and a simply decorated flowers on the table, topped off with a dash of beautiful oriental brush paintings hanging on the walls which can be quite the mood changer.

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-3

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-7

Like I’ve said, it’s my first time there so I didn’t know what to expect – but despite not having been there, I’ve heard loads about their coffee – their Barista, Ryan Tan is a three-time Singapore National Barista Championship winner as well as the second runner-up in the World Latte Art Championship! (read more on article here). Unfortunately, I don’t take coffee nor have the taste buds to appreciate it, so you’ll have to take my word (and the championship titles Ryan has achieved) for it for now, hahaha.

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-5

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-6

They also serve pastries – I didn’t get to sample them, but I was drooling at their cakes in the display (i’m a cake person *raises both hands*) and I’ve heard that they’re pretty famous for their breakfast too!

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-4

The sofa seats were rather comfy, and plush cushions were readily available along them. (refer to first picture!)

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-8

We picked our choices of drinks for the night from their menu, and I ordered my favorite Earl Grey Tea!

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-17

Lattes were a popular choice too – Yina had the iced one with ice cream, whilst Yuen sitting beside me enjoyed her cuppa with simple, but still beautiful art on top. (Sorry ah, not a kopi person so I really have no idea how I should describe coffee)

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-14

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-15

They also serve iced water in glass bottles, and gosh I drank so much water and tea I went home all bloated!

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-9

(I know right, water also must post picture?! I was really parched so I was thankful for the glass of water waiting for me when I stepped in, haha)

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-12

Andddd let the feast begin!

The new dishes on the menu to be served to us tonight:
(Dishes I like are marked and recommend trying with an asterisk *)

  • * Lotus Root Chips, with spicy aioli
  • Egg Net Tempura Soft Shell Crab, with spicy kewpie mayo & corn in a brioche bun
  • Corn & Zucchini Fritters, with avocado, poached egg & spicy tomato relish
  • * Crispy Pork Belly, with truffled mash, ginger beer, apple & date chutney
  • 12-hour Braised Lamb Shoulder Flat Bread, with quinoa tabouli & hummus
  • Za’atar-spiced Eggplant Fritters, with lemon yogurt
  • * Buttermilk Waffles – with artisan greek yogurt & fresh fruit, vanilla ice cream & fresh fruit or maple syrup & fresh fruit

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-13

Lotus Root Chips, with spicy aioli

I loved the second round of lotus root chips – I think the first round got a little limp after all the picture taking and waiting, so they served up a second batch which was less salty, with the right amount of crunch and chewiness and I love the dip! It wasn’t spicy at all for me, but tasted really good still!

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-16

Egg Net Tempura Soft Shell Crab, with spicy kewpie mayo & corn in a brioche bun

Really not a fan of Brioche, but Yina liked it. The Tempura Soft Shell Crab was a tad too soggy, but still sweet and delicious to me. It was a surprise even to myself because I’m not a fan of soft shell crabs. One plate usually comes with two of it instead of the 3 you see in the picture.

(thanks to Yina for the image!)

(thanks to Yina for the image!)

Corn & Zucchini Fritters, with avocado, poached egg & spicy tomato relish

This was the next surprise of the night because I actually finished almost the entire thing, haha. I don’t even like zucchini to begin with! I wouldn’t usually order such foods (too much explosion of taste – egg, avocado, then spicy tomato and zucchini?!), but this was yummy!

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-19

The star of the night had to be this – Crispy Pork Belly, with truffled mash, ginger beer, apple & date chutney – at least for me! I love pork. PORK BELLEH. OH MY GOD! Give it to me!

Surprisingly, the pork belly wasn’t too fatty or “gelat” at all, as they managed to remove most of the fatty portions by a special overnight compression technique – and the delicious chutney also helped loads by adding a zesty punch to every mouthful. Plus the aromatic fragrance of truffle… ahhhh it makes me want to get a bottle of truffle oil and some truffle salt right now. And did I mention that the pork skin is CRISPY? Like the 烧肉 kind. *in heaven*

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-21

12-hour Braised Lamb Shoulder Flat Bread, with quinoa tabouli & hummus

I don’t like lamb – I’ve never liked the taste nor the smell, so I skipped this. I’m sorry I can’t give much comments on this dish, but hey at least you have a visual expectation of this dish! Hehe.

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-20

Za’atar-spiced Eggplant Fritters, with lemon yogurt

By this time round I was too full and decided to save some space for the buttermilk waffles so I skipped this too (not exactly a fan of deep fried stuff or eggplant). It looks really nice and crunchy though!

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-22

Truffle Fries (not a new dish).

3 Words. OMG MUST ORDER. Peggy loves the truffle fries too!

strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-23

Buttermilk Waffles – with artisan greek yogurt & fresh fruit, vanilla ice cream & fresh fruit or maple syrup & fresh fruit
The next MUST TRY dish of the night – their Buttermilk Waffles!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

You can choose from 3 combis – with greek yogurt, vanilla ice cream or maple syrup, all with fresh fruit. I usually like soggy waffles, so I love the ice cream one – but if you like crispy waffles, whoa! This is totally for you! I like how it isn’t too hard, and while I didn’t take too fondly to greek yogurt, I love the sprinkling of fruits on top and I can already see myself coming back for this and also their all-day breakfast!

Thanks for the makan session, Strangers Reunion! I’ll be back for breakfast someday!

Choupinette brunch, and the launch of Valentino’s Valentina Acqua Floreale

By | beauty, Brunch, Food, Fragrances | No Comments

Sometimes you know, you just have the feel to blog about something and this was one of those days – couldn’t let it go and hence I’m blogging about a more recent event – at 3:37am. I meant, I’m blogging at 3:37am, not that the event was at 3:37am.

So during the whole haze hoo-ha, I stayed indoors for the bulk of the time and was pretty miserable when the PSI hit 400. I was supposed to have a brunch date with Yina to before an event, but our food tasting session got cancelled! I was salivating and dreaming of french toasts and egg benny the few days before and then boom, cancelled due to the haze. *sigh* So yeah I needed my egg fix and we decided on Choupinette, at Bukit Timah – Coronation Plaza to be exact.

Choupinette
607 Bukit Timah Rd, Singapore 269708
Tel: 6466 0613

Closed on Mondays, 9-8pm on Tues – Thurs, Fridays 9-10pm, Sat 8am – 10pm, Sunday 8am – 6pm
*No reservations for groups of less than 5pax on weekends and P.H!

choupinette-2013-06-22-5

My eggs benedict ($22 for a set meal with 2 drinks) – it was delicious, I just didn’t like the type of bread! I always prefer soft breads than toasted ones – muffins over brioche.

choupinette-2013-06-22-6

French Toast with Berries Compote ($19 with a set meal with 2 drinks) – loved this one, I’ll probably just go back for this. Soft bread, checked. Strawberries, checked. Honey, checked. YUM.

choupinette-2013-06-22-1

I have no idea why they saw the need for 2 drinks – probably good if you’re gonna sit around and chat for a while more, or else you should just share a meal with your friend and save maybe 2-3 bucks! I had tea and juice – the juices weren’t freshly squeezed ones, so I’d recommend you to take the tea!

choupinette-2013-06-22-9

choupinette-2013-06-22-7

They also have a whole load of pastries and bakes for you to bring back! Giant donutttttttttt!

choupinette-2013-06-22-8

I would have ordered the strawberry tart if I wasn’t that full!

choupinette-2013-06-22-3

Took a picture just because I was still having a good hair day and because I bothered dressing up, and when I uploaded this my friend mocked me along the lines of “you look so serious about breakfast” lololol no offense taken, It was indeed posed anyway, but hey, I am VERY serious about my eggs okay. Can’t live without it. And you think everyone can look chio by accident or at all angles like Barney Stinson meh! Heh.

choupinette-2013-06-22-4

Accessories of the day: Skull Ring from ASOS, arm swag / bracelet mish mash from Thomas Sabo (the one with the angel wings), Hottopic, and my new CC Skye Lucky Horn Rosary Bracelet from Just Tangy – glad to finally have a local distributor for CC Skye stuff, I tell you! I remember looking for the spike bracelet for so long but I couldn’t ship from USA and kept thinking about it till now.

choupinette-2013-06-22-2

My 3M 6100 half face mask with P100 filters! Thanks to Estrella’s hubby for queuing up at Mass Technologies (Bukit Batok) and letting me ride on their orders, haha. The mask is grey with PINK filters and it’s quite funny to see people’s reactions to me when I’m out with this – I put it on as I was exiting the restaurant and someone was like “isn’t it a little extreme?!” Hell no, thank god I had my mask because I ended up spending some time outside taking pretty pictures for Yina – and also because the Haze suddenly came back and it was quite high at 300+ by 12pm!

It seems to be all clear skies and humid weather now due to the favorable wind conditions, but I think the forests are still burning, and in case the haze ever comes back, I’m all prepared! Fighting the haze with this uber mask (can keep long time, filters last for 2 months), my Best World Lifestyle Uber Air Vac Purifier and Ioniser! Oh oh and my 2 humidifiers from Osim! I heard the purifiers were all sold out, and I’m thankful I got my last 2 sets just before it was totally wiped at my girlfriend’s office. Whew.

Okay enough about the haze!

After a very satisfying brunch, we headed down to Paragon for the launch of Valentino’s latest Valentina Acqua Floreale.

757daedcdb4411e2a46122000a9d0dc6_7

Us in our pretty and new JC heels from P.V.S! (That’s the shop that sells Jeffrey Campbell shoes in Singapore – it’s in Cineleisure, on level 2!)
The pair that I’m wearing is called the AshSky and costs $199 – the prices are comparable, if not cheaper than the online prices (if you include shipping – I hope my husband doesn’t read this!), plus they’re having sales right now – you totally need to check out their Instagram and get an idea of what’s available!
Wearing my studded shirt from Hollyhoque – You can’t really see the studs here (was cold, needed more coverage), but it’s oh-so comfy and I really like the studs on it!

Psssst. Noticed Yina’s white bag? It’s lovely – and it’s up for backorders at thevelvetdolls.sg!
The pleather snakeskin material is really good (much better than my neon box bag) and worth the buy!

Since I’m talking so much about shopping, let me repeat this here, hahaha. The shorts (if you can even see it, lol) I’m wearing are from Zara!

2c716ae6db6f11e2b19622000a1f9d89_7
I love them so much I have 3 pairs in different washes (they actually only come in light and dark washes, but somehow the 2 light ones that I got are of slightly different shades) and I’m super happy with them! They’re a little ripped, but I was afraid they’ll get more ripped so I bought a backup. Haha. Never mind $59.90 – when you find something so comfy you’ll wanna roll in it all day, JUST GET IT.

Whoops, back to Valentina!

valentino-valentina-2013-1

(The little clutch/pouch in the coffret is just so nicely made and different from the typical GWP bags you receive! Looks like a really worthy set!)

You know how scents sometimes start off with a main version – then maybe release a different variant every year?

Fashion house Valentino started with Valentina, inspired by Rome and Italian flavors, concocted with with attitude, sophistication and unexpected characteristics in 2011 – and then came Valentina Assoluto in 2012, an intense version of the Valentina original. This year sees the birth of yet another rendition, the Valentina Acqua Floreale, which is a lighter version. making it a total of 3 variants – they all come in similarly shaped, classy looking bottles with black nozzles, and the brand’s name engraved on the silver neck of the bottle.

valentino-valentina-assoluto-acqua-floreale2013

Valentina EDP (2011)

The original Valentina EDP, housed in a clear, flat circular bottle was concocted by master perfumers Alberto Morillas & Olivier Cresp as a tribute to today’s Valentino woman. It is a floral fragrance, with Bergamot (top notes), Jasmine, African Orange Blossoms, Tuberose (heart notes), and Vanilla, Amber & Cedar as the base notes. I didn’t smell it at first, but there’s apparently a bit of Strawberry in the middle notes too! To me, this is a strong yet feminine fragrance – a distinctively European scent to me (you know, like how some French / Italian ladies tend to smell like) and to be honest, I feel it’s a little too heavy for our Singaporean weather – I can imagine wearing this in the winter in Italy maybe, but in Singapore… Go light handed on this one, please! The scent seems to have a drawing power, it is incredibly attractive – promoters walked past me with the scent on and I really liked the how it smells like after 2-3 hours. Being an EDP, it is incredibly long-lasting, but unfortunately though, I didn’t really like how it ends off – somehow it gives me a bit of a headache at the end of the day.

Prices:
EDP 80ML – $175   |   EDP 50ML – $135   |   EDP 30ML – $95   |   BODY LOTION 200ML – $73   |   SHOWER GEL 200ML – $64

Valentina Assoluto (2012)

Valentina Assoluto is a much more intense, and less floral sister of the original – this time round with patchouli added to the bottom notes, and the inclusion of peach on the top – I honestly didn’t smell any peach, I can tell you that – I think the mixture of Patchouli and Vanilla stood out more and gave me a double whammy headache. It smells more masculine & earthy than Valentina, and usually I enjoy masculine scents, but Assoluto was still a little too sweet for me. Assoluto sees a very slight change in the bottle design, but still distinctive with a darker colored glass and a larger, single rose. In other words, the bottle looks more… intense. Heh.

Prices:
EDP 80ml – $193   |   VALENTINA EDP 50ml – $149

Valentina Acqua Floreale (2013)

2013 – Valentina Acqua Floreale, the latest release, is my favorite of the three! I’m not sure if it’s because of the exclusion of Vanilla – the scent still smells like a determined woman with Patchouli at the base notes, but it doesn’t give me a headache. Yes, I’m pretty sensitive to certain scents. The lighter, fresher and flirty younger sister of the 3 fragrances is much more befitting for summer and I like it! I think I have a thing for light floral scents after getting acquainted with Love, Chloe and I can foresee myself wearing this more often than any of the other two. The bottle design is very similar to the Valentina EDP, and the only thing that sets them apart would be single white flower to denote that it is a lighter scent. Is it me or did they think of the bottle design for the next 3 years?! (Seeing that the original has 3 flowers of varying shades, haha)

Prices:
EDT 80ml – $162 |   EDT 50ml – $126

* The fragrances are available at Metro Paragon & Takashimaya – Acqua Floreale is available at Robinsons Raffles City & Tangs Orchard *

The event had some delightful tea time snacks but we were too full for any, so we started on the activity which was much more delightful than the tea time snacks to me, hahaha. The fantastic team purchased stickers, gems, some clear iPhone 4/5 casings and had us decorating happily away! I perked up the moment I saw what was in store for us XD

valentino-valentina-2013-4

I loved my gelish manicure done at The Nail Artelier loads!!!
I had to remove it because I had to do swatches for the blog, I’m so sorry Ying T___T I’ll be back for more fantastic artwork for sure.
Blog post on that coming up another time!

valentino-valentina-2013-5

Behold, my pretty iPhone 4S casing! ; D

valentino-valentina-2013-6

Love the doily stickers in white and turquoise – isn’t it just so dainty and sweet? Okay admittedly this is not my style but I’m still a girl after all and I have a weakness for clear casings with prints! Made another one for Estrella, hurhurhur. You know, maybe I should start making stuff like this since I have tons of iPhone 4S casings lying around T_T Would anyone want one to customize yourself?

Oh look, it’s raining now and a perfect time to sleep! Writing this post took me 2+ hours (including replacing my batteries on my peripherals and rebooting my computer) and I’m not even counting the time I took to edit the pictures, and I have a ton of work to finish this week – Who says it’s easy being a blogger?! ; D But thank you, you and you, for reading this blog. It is nice to know & hear that there are people reading this blog, no matter how many readers. I will be doing a giveaway for the perfumes soon, do stay tuned on my Instagram @evonnz!

One bright and early morning, (well, before the VDL event) my 2 friends went shopping at TheVelvetDoll’s office. Well technically it’s her own office lah, haha. And I was also passed a set of clothes because that brunch turned into an last minute “let’s-all-wear-tvd-clothes” shoot! Thank you, Yina!

Brunch was arranged at Au Chocolat, which is located in a corner (the north wing) on the 3rd floor of MBS Shoppes.

This isn’t my first time there, so there’ll be a mix of photos (you can tell from the color editing) – I specially went back to try the truffle fries cos we had a craving for it!

Truffle fries, served with Mayo & BBQ sauce dips. Yummeh!

Eggs Benedict – Didn’t really dig the parma ham, but loved the soft muffin!

Seafood Crepe, with Prawns & Clams – omg absolutely delish.
It did feel a bit weird having it with a crepe but the crepe was wonderfully done as well and it was just so tasty!

Eve’s hot chocolate with marshmallows – it was unfortunately a bit too sweet for Eve’s liking, IIRC! (if i recall correctly)

Previously, I had the mushroom soup and I loved it!

And some other food I’ve had a few months ago at Au Chocolat too…

Au Chocolat is separated into 2 portions – a Bistro and a confiserie (confectionary?) where you can purchase candies, chocolates, cakes, and also an ice cream bar / salad / sandwich area!

Au Chocolat has amazing decor, and it was only right that we did the shoot right there, haha. I even carried my $15 Ettusais luggage along so I didn’t need to handcarry too much stuff!

Wearing TheVelvetDoll‘s Basic Tee Top in White
This top is ultra comfy and also good at covering up my arm fats, haha. The sleeves fall at the right area to cover my fatty parts!
Only thing that it’s not exactly very suitable for my body shape when I pair it with a high waist item –
I’m top heavy + short so I did end up looking a little larger. But still. SO COMFY!

My Jeffrey Campbell Ashsky heels from P.V.S Singapore again, heh.
Really in love with the Lucite heels. I always put them back in their dustbag after wearing to avoid scratching the lucite parts!

I know people usually are iffy about showing their feet, but I’m ultra happy with my pedicure from @thenailartelier (instagram)!
FYI, I paid for my pedi (happily) cos I really trust Ying with my nails and feet. She’s one of the best nailists in Singapore!

evonnz-auchocolat-brunch-with-girlfriends-8TheVelvetDoll’s Fashionista Striped Skirt is an extremely nice item to have in my wardrobe.
Looks a little korean-style, but regardless of country it’s super chic and adds a really nice touch to an otherwise boring outfit.
(i tried wearing the top with a black skirt and it was just blah)

I flipped through HappiNuts (Japanese magazine) and there were soooo many plain white + pinstripe coordinates!

Go get the skirt nao! Plus… TVD’s new collection is up! ; D Shop away please!

Tested my B&W polaroid films / polaroid camera settings!

Seems like my camera’s a little out of focus (that or I’m still not familiar with the focal length). This is such an expensive hobby… The black frames are limited edition from TheImpossibleProject, who are the only ones left in this world producing films suitable for polaroids. One packet of film’s like $39 : /
I bought these films for a real good deal locally at Peek over at Armenian Street though, some older films were packaged together at $99 for a pack of 4.

I’m using a Polaroid Sun 635 in case anyone’s interested ; )
P.S. – If anyone has an SX-70 Polaroid Camera for sale at a reasonable price, please let me know!

And last but not least… hahaha. Photog good, backdrop good, but unfortunately the model (me) had a really awkward pose and bag, hahaha. I look like I’m stealing things – shifty eyes + clutching bag + hand inside plants HAHAHA. *stuffs plant into bag*

I had great fun on that morning out and taking a little break from work! Crunch time nowwwwwwwww.
