Some of us Nuffnang bloggers were invited to Strangers’ Reunion to sample their newest menu’s offerings, and it was a reunion of sorts indeed! Met up with the ones I was familiar with, and also some new faces for the night!
If you do a quick search, Strangers’ Reunion is located at 37 Kampong Bahru Road – it is my first time there so I had to google – and the map tried to lead me to god knows where. But if you type in Strangers Reunion instead of 37 Kampong Bahru Road, it routes you to the right place! It’s just a little down Cantonment Police HQ towards the west (AYE/Queensway).

Parking… well don’t wait along the main road, which I did for 5 minutes – turn left and you’ll find yourself with two lanes of parking (50 cents per half an hour till 10pm) and I found a lot rather quickly and easily too. You’ll have to get out of the area by 10pm though, it’s season parking only after 10pm.
Anyway, I entered through the backdoor because of where I parked – and thank god there was a backdoor! The first beautiful sight I chanced upon was the toilet sink, ahhaha. The toilets were clean, thumbs up for that! (I really hate eating places without clean toilets)
The interior of the cafe is an eclectic mix of simple, industrial chic – you’ll see much concrete, wood, and a simply decorated flowers on the table, topped off with a dash of beautiful oriental brush paintings hanging on the walls which can be quite the mood changer.
Like I’ve said, it’s my first time there so I didn’t know what to expect – but despite not having been there, I’ve heard loads about their coffee – their Barista, Ryan Tan is a three-time Singapore National Barista Championship winner as well as the second runner-up in the World Latte Art Championship! Unfortunately, I don’t take coffee nor have the taste buds to appreciate it, so you’ll have to take my word (and the championship titles Ryan has achieved) for it for now, hahaha.
They also serve pastries – I didn’t get to sample them, but I was drooling at their cakes in the display (i’m a cake person *raises both hands*) and I’ve heard that they’re pretty famous for their breakfast too!
The sofa seats were rather comfy, and plush cushions were readily available along them. (refer to first picture!)
We picked our choices of drinks for the night from their menu, and I ordered my favorite Earl Grey Tea!
Lattes were a popular choice too – Yina had the iced one with ice cream, whilst Yuen sitting beside me enjoyed her cuppa with simple, but still beautiful art on top. (Sorry ah, not a kopi person so I really have no idea how I should describe coffee)
They also serve iced water in glass bottles, and gosh I drank so much water and tea I went home all bloated!
(I know right, water also must post picture?! I was really parched so I was thankful for the glass of water waiting for me when I stepped in, haha)

Lotus Root Chips, with spicy aioli
I loved the second round of lotus root chips – I think the first round got a little limp after all the picture taking and waiting, so they served up a second batch which was less salty, with the right amount of crunch and chewiness and I love the dip! It wasn’t spicy at all for me, but tasted really good still!
Egg Net Tempura Soft Shell Crab, with spicy kewpie mayo & corn in a brioche bun
Really not a fan of Brioche, but Yina liked it. The Tempura Soft Shell Crab was a tad too soggy, but still sweet and delicious to me. It was a surprise even to myself because I’m not a fan of soft shell crabs. One plate usually comes with two of it instead of the 3 you see in the picture.

Corn & Zucchini Fritters, with avocado, poached egg & spicy tomato relish
This was the next surprise of the night because I actually finished almost the entire thing, haha. I don’t even like zucchini to begin with! I wouldn’t usually order such foods (too much explosion of taste – egg, avocado, then spicy tomato and zucchini?!), but this was yummy!
The star of the night had to be this – Crispy Pork Belly, with truffled mash, ginger beer, apple & date chutney – at least for me! I love pork. PORK BELLEH. OH MY GOD! Give it to me!
Surprisingly, the pork belly wasn’t too fatty or “gelat” at all, as they managed to remove most of the fatty portions by a special overnight compression technique – and the delicious chutney also helped loads by adding a zesty punch to every mouthful. Plus the aromatic fragrance of truffle… ahhhh it makes me want to get a bottle of truffle oil and some truffle salt right now. And did I mention that the pork skin is CRISPY? Like the 烧肉 kind. *in heaven*
12-hour Braised Lamb Shoulder Flat Bread, with quinoa tabouli & hummus
I don’t like lamb – I’ve never liked the taste nor the smell, so I skipped this. I’m sorry I can’t give much comments on this dish, but hey at least you have a visual expectation of this dish! Hehe.
Za’atar-spiced Eggplant Fritters, with lemon yogurt
By this time round I was too full and decided to save some space for the buttermilk waffles so I skipped this too (not exactly a fan of deep fried stuff or eggplant). It looks really nice and crunchy though!

The next MUST TRY dish of the night – their Buttermilk Waffles!
You can choose from 3 combis – with greek yogurt, vanilla ice cream or maple syrup, all with fresh fruit. I usually like soggy waffles, so I love the ice cream one – but if you like crispy waffles, whoa! This is totally for you! I like how it isn’t too hard, and while I didn’t take too fondly to greek yogurt, I love the sprinkling of fruits on top and I can already see myself coming back for this and also their all-day breakfast!
Thanks for the makan session, Strangers Reunion! I’ll be back for breakfast someday!
