“In her clutch, pressed between her fingertips, lies her weapon of lethal seduction. Her partner, her daily ally. Her KissKiss lipstick, a name that charms like a love letter. The lipstick that she never leaves home without.”
It’s been 20 years since the creation of Guerlain’s iconic KissKiss lipstick, and come this year, Guerlain will be launching their newly revamped KissKiss collection to replace the old! Still in the iconic Kiss Kiss shape it was since the start, Kiss Kiss has a new, sleek black coat of lacquer now, instead of the gold nugget it was!
“A celebration of French seduction
A homage to eternal femininity
The elegance of a timeless essential
The whisper of a passionate kiss”
Back in the 1890s, lip rouges were sold in tinted papers, paper tubes and little pots, and Guerlain as a leading beauty house, launched their Ne M’oubliez Pas in 1840, which was widely credited as the first stick lip-rouge ever made!
Not too long after, in 1915 – Maurice Levy invented the first cylinder metal tube for lipsticks which was in a push up format, and in 1923, James Bruce Mason Jr. introduced the swivel up concept for lipsticks which is still widely used till today. (wikipedia link) Fascinating facts I found online while googling for the history of Guerlain’s KissKiss lipsticks!
And now that the short lipstick trivia’s done with, let’s carry on with the KissKiss introduction!
“Crafted by designer Hervé Van der Straeten, its understated case shows off infinitely elegant curves. A tube transformed into a work of art, a jewel developed like three sleek cubes. In 2014, KissKiss changes its dress code. This eternally bold object surprises us once again by slipping into a precious and graceful little black dress. Simply chic!”
So now in 2014, we have the latest version of Guerlain’s Kiss Kiss, in 25 beautiful, newly formulated shades. I don’t have the previous Kiss Kiss lipsticks, but I’ve seen online reviews saying that 2014’s version is much more pigmented!
The 25 shades are categorized into Nudes, Pinks, Reds & Corals, but I’ll prefer to sort them by number her! (Though the color categories are immediately obvious when you see the lippies swatched together).

Let’s get on to the arm and lip swatches!
On the overall, these lipsticks impressed me when it came to pigmentation, because I have a darker upper lip and the majority of them were able to hide that pretty well – formulation was a hit and miss – some were more moisturizing than the others, but none too drying at all. I can’t help but admire the pretty shimmer, especially in 304 Air Kiss, 323 Spicy Girl, and the subtle shimmer in 363 Fabulous Rose. 360 Very Pink got my heart and 343 Sugar Kiss was perfect to me!
The Guerlain KissKiss Lipsticks will retail at $49 SGD in Singapore and $37 USD in the USA – I think the prices are pretty fair and totally worth it! You can find Guerlain makeup & fragrances at Takashimaya, Tangs Orchard & Sephora ION Orchard.
Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lip Lift
While it’s no new product, I actually had no idea what it was and thought it was lip balm – but it isn’t! It’s actually a lip primer – one that prevents lip color from feathering / bleeding, last longer, and show the actual lip color better. It doesn’t really have any moisturizing effects for me, but it isn’t supposed to do that anyway. It’s flesh-colored and has a matte finish, but on the lips it just tones down the color of your lips a little, sort of like a lip concealer.
It is great for you if your lips tend to be to reddish, like mine – using the Guerlain Lip Lift allows the color of your lipstick to show properly, especially for lighter colored lippies like nudes and corals (to appear less red). To me, it’s definitely one up from using concealer on my lips!
Here’s an example of what different it makes for Guerlain Kiss Kiss 342 Fancy Kiss, a coral lippy.
Guerlain’s Kiss Kiss Lip Lift retails at $47 SGD in Singapore.
I apologize for any swatches which weren’t done too well – I’ve always had dry lips and some lipsticks just accentuate my lip lines even more! Colors may be a little different from how it’ll appear on your lips as I have a darker upper lip to begin with. Really hope that y’all loved this one as much as I loved making it! (though I must admit that swatching 25 colors at one go isn’t exactly what I’ll consider fun, haha) ; ) I hardly say this, but… thank you for making it to the end of this post!
